IN SUMMARY: PRIME VENTURE really came of age at the back end of last season, placed in the EBF Final on soft ground and then again at this trip on good. Another summer on his back and the combination of soft ground and three miles can see him well ahead of this mark. Lovenormoney is the least exposed in here, but his chance will be best if he is left alone in front, something that looks unlikely in this field. Firebird Flyer showed little last season, but he has won here over hurdles to kick off his campaign in the past so is no back number.
PRIME VENTURE – Progressed well over hurdles last season when he was supplied with more of a stamina test. A smart runner-up effort in the EBF Final preceded filling the same place behind Mia’s Storm who has franked that since. Sure to improve further, looks the one to beat.
LOVENORMONEY – Inconsistent last season, he has perfect conditions for his seasonal debut. Lightly raced, he is open to progression this season but will need to be if he is taken on up front.
AWAYWITHTHEGREYS – A regular here, the veteran won over this trip here in June. Ten pounds higher for that now, he is not handicapped out of it on his old form but may not get his own way out in front with Lovenormoney in opposition.
FINGERONTHESWITCH – Pulled up the last twice over fences, he reverts to the smaller obstacles for the first time since April 2016. The soft ground is no help to him, hard to support with any confidence under these conditions.
DRIFTWOOD HAZE – No win since April 2016, but both career wins have come at this track. That success came from this mark, placed since from higher. Failed to beat a rival home when last seen in July, but has to be respected when competing here.
VERYGOODVERYGOOD – Heavily supported last time out, he spat the dummy in first time cheekpieces. No surprise to see them off and a visor back on, but little to recommend him on his last four efforts. Still five pounds above his last winning mark so needs a return to his best.
KAYF MOSS – March 2016 the last time since he showed any signs of life, last season was a write off. Dropped like a stone through the handicap but has no great record fresh so easily opposed.
FIREBIRD FLYER – Better known as a staying chaser, he has pulled up in four of his last five starts. Conditions in his favour from a ten pound lower hurdles mark, won first time up in a hurdle here in the 2014/15 season so there is a glimmer of hope for supporters.
ACT NOW – Much improved since given a proper stamina test last season. She will need to continue that progression immediately if she is to make and impression here but she has conditions to suit.
