Seven furlongs the trip for the juveniles here, a couple of these should go onto better things. Our runner by runner preview and expert tip are below.
IN SUMMARY: QUEENS GALLERY showed plenty on his debut to make him of huge interest at the second time of asking. The step up in trip should see him in a better light and his dam was placed at Group 3 level. Myboyhenry has already got his head in front twice so sets the standard, he may just get weighed down with his double penalty. Tiepolo has course experience which counts for a lot at this track while there are few who will be seeing it out better than Dazzle Gold.
MYBOYHENRY – Already twice a winner, a double penalty carried here will ensure that he has to give six pounds or more to all his rivals, even taking into account the three pound claim from Clifford Lee. Both wins have come over this trip at Musselburgh, not quite able to cope with a step up to Listed class last time out in France. He looks like making the running here to try and put those less experienced to the sword from a long way out, he sets the form standard and is the only Karl Burke runner sent down from Yorkshire on the card.
CARLINI – Has shown very little so far, well beaten the twice he has seen the track. He is a half brother to Listed winner Troubador as well as Listed placed Tiptree so he should be capable of better than he has shown, but that is likely to come once he is handicapped after this start.
DAZZLE GOLD – Looked in need of a step up in trip already when fifth over half a furlong shorter on his debut. He was an expensive purchase, a full brother to a winner over a mile and a half in Canada and a half sibling to a Listed winner as a juvenile for Sheikh Hamdan. Should improve plenty for that debut experience but on a track that runs downhill for the first half of the race, he may get a little tapped for toe before staying on again as they hit the rising ground.
PRINCE CONSORT – Beaten a long way when only eleventh of thirteen on his debut. Those from the Brian Meehan yard tend to come on plenty for that initial experience but he has an awful lot to find to get involved on that first run.
QUEENS GALLERY – Shaped with promise on his debut, staying on into fourth at Windsor. The step up a furlong in trip is certainly in his favour and the Windsor winner was placed in a Group 3 the next time out. His dam was a Group 3 winner over this trip as a juvenile so there should be plenty of improvement in the tank. He looks the one they all have to beat here.
TIEPOLO – Twice placed over six furlongs, he has shaped as if this step up in trip will suit him well. The first of those places came at this track, the previous course experience a huge plus in a field of juveniles. Those runs would give him a place chance once more, so he needs serious consideration in this contest for the Gary Moore yard.
WILSON – Only beat one home on his debut, but that was a deeper contest than this. He was beaten less than five lengths in total in that Newmarket contest where he looked badly in need of that experience. There have been a couple of placed horses since from the also rans on that occasion so the form has worked our respectably but his full brother hasn’t progressed and is now only rated 58 so he has more to do.
ZABALETASWANSONG – Placed twice in five starts so far, he has looked a little vulnerable in the closing stages over this trip the last twice. He has gone from the front in those runs, so perhaps being ridden with a little more restraint, he would have more of a chance of having a little left for the business end. Until he proves he stays however, he is difficult to support at this trip.
COUNTERFEIT – Hasn’t shown much on her two starts so far, she gets both a first time tongue strap and a set of blinkers fitted now. Both her half siblings are better on the All-Weather than they are on turf, so although she makes little appeal here, once handicapped and running on sand she looks one to be interested in.
MISS MO BROWN BEAR – Had shown a consistent level of form in her first six starts before disappointing last time out. That was her first run on good to firm ground when stepped up to seven and a half furlongs. She is already starting to looks exposed and coming off her worst run under similar conditions to these, she is tough to support.
