IN SUMMARY: Ready preference is for ROYAL SUPREMO, who when last seen won nicely at Uttoxeter in a Novices’ Hurdle and should be even better this season with conditions to suit today. His main danger will most likely be Derintoher Yank who is on a hat-trick bid.

1 DERINTOHER YANK – On a hat-trick bid after two wins at Cartmel, the latest of which being a slam dunk over further (2m4f, Good). Obviously in good heart of present and dangerous to discount but faces sterner opposition this time and needs to show some improvement, which is likely and has to be respected.

2 ROYAL SUPREMO – Decent enough in bumpers with a record of one win and one place out of three and showed good promise on hurdles debut back in May at Uttoxeter (2m3f, Good). Hasn’t been since and should have come on leaps and bounds over the summer and better can be expected this season. Although he does lack race fitness that isn’t too much of a concern and with conditions to suit, he should run a big race on return.

3 EAGER TO KNOW – Won a point to point but very poor on hurdles debut and makes little to no appeal today.

4 JUST FOR JAMES – Decent enough form and reasonably consistent in Ireland but doesn’t strike as the likely type and may well struggle on these terms after 221 day absence.

5 PRIORY LAD – Improved on a very poor debut with a mediocre effort here last week (2m3f, Soft), need another huge jolt of improvement is required to feature here and unlikely to land a blow.
