IN SUMMARY: JUS PIRES already has course form and looks set to improve now he is stepped up in trip having taken all of the mile to get on top at Kempton last time. Good Way Off showed solid form over this sort of trip in France, pitched in deep at Listed level last time. She should prove better suited to handicaps at this level and looks the main threat. Genetics and Garrick are lightly raced and both are open to better.
GOOD WAY OFF – Showed smart form in France but she was thrown in the deep end last time, taking in a Listed contest. She has won on good to firm so the ground will suit, with form at this trip last season. Very interesting now she makes her handicap debut.
FAST DANCER – Tough to win with, he has finished runner-up nine times. He has no issues with this ground or trip, but given his record he is hard to recommend as more than an each way player from this level of 83.
GRAPEVINE – Disappointing campaign given how brightly he started in an excellent Newbury handicap. He showed a little more last time he was seen at that same course so with conditions in his favour, he is worth a second look.
LAWMAKING – Scored a 33/1 preview winner for us back in July, hitting the frame twice since. Has to confirm his stamina now trying this trip, enough to prove for now despite a drop in grade.
SPARTE QUERCUS – Not seen until mid May, connections patience rewarded with a smart first season. He has proven adaptable with regards to trip and ground so looks an each way player with further improvement looking probable.
GENETICS – Took the notable scalp of Raheem House when he broke his duck last season. Absent for a year, he might need this against race fit rivals, but is a fascinating one to watch with the future in mind.
GARRICK – Not seen since making a winning debut on the Tapeta in February. Runners from that race are a measly 1/36 since on the flat so clearly the form isn’t strong. He’s nicely bred though and made a sound impression, should be capable of making his presence felt.
JUS PIRES – Sound effort when runner-up in a mile maiden here two starts back, he made no mistake the last time he was seen. One of the least exposed in the contest, he should have plenty more in the tank, very interesting now stepped up in trip.
LIME AND LEMON – Second and third in small fields at this track over further, her best form at this trip has come with more cut in the ground. She has been off since May which is a slight concern, she needs a little more to score here.
ANDOK – Smart form as a juvenile but hasn’t backed that up so far in 2017. He shaped better when given a soft time of things in front on very different ground last time but that didn’t confirm his stamina for this trip, best watched until he does.
INTERMODAL – Weakened as if in need of the run on his first run of the season in September. He makes his turf debut here, having broken his duck at Kempton last December. Lightly raced enough to be capable of better but hard to support with confidence right now.
ISLAND BRAVE – Performed well at Lingfield earlier in the year, it’s tough to know exactly what he achieved in three runs in France. He starts out for Heather Main here and with just a single turf run to his credit (and by far his worst) he can only be watched.
ZAMALIGHT – Showed a glimmer of ability in maidens but has backed out of things rapidly in recent starts. Has form in the book to be competitive from this mark but plenty needs to be taken on faith to support him on this occasion.
