As usual for Lingfield, the 6th race of the day is a tricky maiden stakes over the mile. See our betting tips and the full race preview below.
IN SUMMARY: In such a weak race it may be likely that WAHIBA has enough about her to make a winning English debut for Marco Botti after displaying promise in two runs in Germany. She’s got a nice pedigree to match and should make a bold bid today with Galinthias and Tifl probably the most likely to chase her home.
GALINTHIAS – Made his belated debut for the inform Simon Dow team when finishing second here over C&D which was a promising effort. Will know much more today and still should have lots more to give, so is one of the leading contenders today.
MOUNT VESUVIUS – Three times a winner over hurdles, the latest of which coming in August at Newton Abbot and doesn’t seem the most likely winner on a very belated flat debut today.
RAISE THE GAME – Twice raced so far and his second run was an encouraging when a running on third at Wolverhampton a few weeks ago over 7f. The step in trip seems the right move and shouldn’t be discounted on just his 3rd run for Bill Turner.
TIFL – Was slowly away but made nice progress to finish just a neck second at Kempton on his racecourse debut, 7 lengths ahead of the 3rd placed horse (1m, Std to Slw). He should do much better with that run under his belt so needs to be respected under Jack Mitchell under Heather Main.
AMBER MYSTIQUE – Showed ability as a two year old and also showed she retained it for new trainer Kristin Stubbs when a close 2nd at Newcastle a few weeks ago (1m, Std). Should be thereabouts if building upon that efforts and has place claims.
MAGIC MOMENTS – Has shown little in two maidens thus far and doesn’t appeal.
NELLIE DEAN – Hasn’t been seen since being involved in the tragic pile-up at Kempton back in October, and doesn’t look a surefire stayer on previous evidence. Probably best watched today.
PACOHONTAS – Minor all weather form so far and although she finished second on his latest start here over 7f, she finished 8 lengths behind the winner and wasn’t a strong race. Not a likely winner today back in maiden company.
SUMMER FALLS – Well held on debut when about 14 lengths behind over C&D last month, and will need to show much more to get involved here today. Doesn’t strike as a likely type to win today.
WAHIBA – E110,000 purchase who finished 3rd on both starts when in Germany and showed promise on both occasions. Now with Marco Botti and makes stable/all weather debut but makes appeal in a weak race with an attractive pedigree and may well be good enough to make a winning start in England today.
