Nine mares go to post for the fourth race on Bangor’s Thursday card, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.
IN SUMMARY: The penny finally seemed to drop when KASPIAN TERN came home strongly at Towcester last month, and this step up should suit her well. She will however have to work hard to beat Marvellous Monty who ran a very progressive horse to its limit at Uttoxeter last Friday.
LYME PARK – Has shown promise on most of her starts this year and ran a good race upped to 2m 4f at Towcester latest, staying on well towards the finish. Should run well again for the inform Donald McCain team and has Harry Teal’s 7lb claim to ease the load of 11st 13lb, so has to be considered today.
MARVELLOUS MONTY – A mistake at the last didn’t help her cause when nearly managing to beat the progressive Annie Alainn at Uttoxeter last Friday (2m 3f, Heavy). She has to be respected as that represents solid form and with conditions to suit, she must be considered the main danger today after only 7 runs.
KASPIAN TERN – Made eye catching late headway when finishing 6th in a maiden hurdle at Towcester last month (1m 7f, Good to Soft), with the penny finally looking to have dropped on her 4th run under rules. She looks potentially well treated on handicap debut and may well be able to notch up a first win with this step up in trip firmly in her favour today.
MISS MASH – Has shown minor promise on some of her runs and posted a career best effort to finish 3rd at Uttoxeter earlier this month, 12 lengths off the winner (2m 3f, Soft). Will need to improve further to feature today and its hard to trust she will build upon that effort if judged on her previous runs.
KATIE’S HEN – Won on her second hurdles start at Stratford back (2m 2f, Good to Soft) in June 2016 but has very disappointing since, and her latest 4th at Hereford in October was no better (2m 3f, Good). Hard to recommend on previous evidence but may be fighting for places in this very weak contest.
HIGHLAND LIFE – Only shown minor ability on 5 starts to date under rules and her last two efforts at Ludlow over the 2m 5f haven’t been at all convincing. Has a good 7lb claimer on board but still very hard to get excited about her chances.
PREMIER ROSE – Inconsistent for Katy Price and hasn’t shown much on any runs for her, pulling up on her latest start at Hereford in October (2m 3f, Good). Doesn’t strike as an obvious type in this.
ROMANN ANGEL – Pulled up on her latest start at Hereford back in October (2m 3f, Good), not building upon the improvement she showed when ahead of Lyme Park at Bangor back in September (2m3f, Good). Led that day and if doing so again she could be an interesting angle into the race and is worth a second look.
ROSE RED – Hasn’t show much on her last three runs and her record of 1-27 doesn’t make for pleasant reading. Doesn’t make any sort of appeal today.
