2.30pm Wolverhampton tips for Monday’s Class 4 race. A field of seven goes to post for a seven furlong handicap at Wolverhampton on Monday. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.
IN SUMMARY: This can go to CENTRAL CITY, who won easily at this venue over the six furlong trip back in September for Hugo Palmer. His only attempt of seven furlongs came in a soft ground Glorious Goodwood Class 2 and it’s unfair to judge him on that, so he deserves a second chance at this distance. Josie Gordon takes the ride and he shouldn’t be for catching, with the main danger being the handicap debutant Picture No Sound.
1 PICTURE NO SOUND – Improved beyond some moderate opening runs to record a good success at Newbury on his latest start, scoring by three lengths. He has been sold of 46,000gns since and makes his handicap debut off a workable mark. Has to be respected as the extra distance should suit.
2 CENTRAL CITY – Won a six furlong handicap here two starts ago, winning easily and he wasn’t disgraced on his latest start at Chelmsford off today’s mark. He’s worth another go at the seven furlong trip and remains with potential, so shouldn’t be for passing.
3 ESCAPE THE CITY – Has shown improved form on the turf of late for Hughie Morrison, not disgraced in Listed company on his latest start. His sights are now lowered and he’s bred to handle the all weather. His handicap mark is by no means harsh and he should be in the thick of the action.
4 OUR MAN IN HAVANA – Has yet to go past the six furlong trip, which he has won twice at. He bumped into one when second over the five furlongs here last month, but more is needed in a competitive looking event and he should find a few of these too good with his stamina to prove.
5 NEW EMPIRE – First time blinkers worked well when second at Goodwood in August but he’s failed to build on that and his form has gone backwards quite alarmingly. He is bred to stay this extra furlong but he has plenty to prove and a leap of faith is required.
6 REVERBERATION – Best runs have come when going downhill for Sylvester Kirk, third but still well held at Epsom on October 1st. More is needed for the switch to the tapeta and off two pounds higher, you can find much better propositions in this field.
7 HAVAN MARIPOSA – Only headed well inside the final furlong on her latest start at Yarmouth, but that was over six furlongs in a Class 5 event. She now goes up in class and isn’t sure to suit this step up in trip, so others are preferred.
