This is a novice stakes race over 5 furlongs, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.
IN SUMMARY: Plenty with chances in this and ROCK OF ESTONIA gets the vote. She’s by freshman sire Society Rock out of a mare who won over 5 furlongs so he should have plenty of speed and he can make good use of it in this. Lethal Lunch is an obvious danger for the Richard Hannon stable whilst Angel Of The South is another that deserves a market check based on her attractive pedigree.
DECLARATIONOFLOVE – One of the first runners for freshman sire Declaration Of War and he was purchased for a decent 28,000 Euros as a yearling. This is the yard’s first runner here and they’re not known for first time out winners but his dam was a decent type from an early age and he’s not without hope. Market will guide.
GIVE EM A CLUMP – 10,000 Euro purchase as a yearling and he’s related to a couple of winners at this trip. The yard have sent out plenty of forward 2yos this season so far and whilst many have failed to win, they have run with credit and look race ready. Adam Kirby is a positive booking for this stable and he’s another that needs close market attention. Support would be significant.
LETHAL LUNCH – Increased in value as a yearling, selling for £62,000. He’s a son of Lethal Force (another freshman sire) and his dam has produced a couple of nice 2yo types already so there are plenty of positives on pedigree. Ryan Moore is an eye-catching booking (27% strike rate here) and this yard have sent out plenty of maiden winners of late (8 winners from their last 39 runners). Should be popular today.
MAY REMAIN – Another horse in this to increase in value from a foal to a yearling and Paul Cole’s runner fetched £26,000 as a yearling. He’s a half-brother to a winner over further but Mayson usually produces speedy types and it’ll be interesting to see how quick she is. Yard have a 9% strike rate here although they have had a couple of nice maiden runners recently so he’s not without a chance. Others are preferred though.
MILTON ROAD – Half-brother to a winner over 5 to 7 furlongs who achieved official ratings in the mid-60’s. His sire was a speedy type and it’ll be interesting to see how tuned up he’ll be here with not a huge amount to go on based on pedigree. Yard are operating at a 21% strike rate at the moment and they are able to ready one first time out. Others make slightly more appeal.
MULLION STAR – Half-brother to a very poor sort for a yard that isn’t known for juvenile winners. Michael Madgwick has just one winner from 19 runners here and it’s likely that his runner here will appreciate handicaps better than maidens. Avoided.
ROCK OF ESTONIA – Expensive purchase as a yearling (90,000GNS) and is one of the first runners by Society Rock. He was a high-class sprinter over slightly further than this and Charlie Hills runner is out of a mare that won over 5 furlongs so he should have plenty of speed. One of the more likely winners of this and could be well-supported. Interesting runner for a yard with a £33.25 profit to level stakes at Windsor.
ANGEL OF THE SOUTH – Half-sister to a two-times winner over 7 furlongs and she cost a sizeable £170,000 as a yearling. She’s by Dark Angel so she’s probably going to be better suited to an extra furlong or two in distance so it’s a small surprise to see her debut over so short. Yard are not known for first time out winners and it’ll be interesting to see how much support arrives. Overall profile is attractive, but she may want further.
CONTROVERSIAL LADY – First foal of a mare who failed to win in four starts and she cost 7,000 Euros as a yearling. She’s by Holy Roman Emperor so it’s interesting that she debuts over this trip today given her profile suggests she’ll want much further than this. Her dam’s sire was Dalakhani, another stayer, and it’d be a surprise if she had enough speed to get the better of a few of these. Others preferred.
DADDIES GIRL – £5,5000 purchase as a yearling and she’s a half-sister to a horse who remains a maiden after 19 starts. Yard have been in flying form of late with two winners from their last 8 runners including some decent maiden performances so it’ll be interesting to see how she fares here. Stall 9 isn’t ideal and Oisin Murphy is booked for the ride (24% strike rate in the last fortnight). Not without a chance but others make more appeal.
GLIMPSE OF DIRHAMS – Half-sister to a couple of long-standing maidens and it would be a big surprise to see her win this on her first outing. She has a lack of speed in her pedigree and this will be one of her trainers very few maiden runners. Others make much more appeal.
