IN SUMMARY: GINO TRAIL is the class act in this field and may be able to make amends for fluffing his lines in the Haldon Gold Cup and carry top weight to victory here. Casual Cavalier may prove the biggest danger having been a very consistent and decent performer last season but he lacks a recent run.
GINO TRAIL – A classy chaser who has been second to Buveur D’Air in his career over fences and was well fancied for the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter last time. He is easily the best horse in this field and probably has the ability to carry top weight from the front in ground he likes.
PAIN AU CHOCOLAT – Won at Perth in April on his final start of the season and was put up four pounds by the handicapper for that effort. Produced a well below par performance on his reappearance at Aintree when trailing in last and has only been dropped one pound for that, needs to bounce back.
NEVER UP – A consistent gelding who comes here as the only horse in the field to win last time out. He won’t mind the ground and has only been put up four pounds for what looked a straightforward enough win last time, should go well if coping with the drop back in trip which shouldn’t be a big inconvenience.
CASUAL CAVALIER – Enjoyed an excellent run last season and form figures of 131123 since joining George Bewley are nothing to be sniffed at. He comes here off a long enough break however and faces match fit rivals in likely testing conditions which isn’t ideal, still one to consider.
