IN SUMMARY: BECAUSESHESAIDSO ran a respectable race when third two starts and races off five pounds lower today, he looked like a non-stayer last time and can close back down in trip. Rising Tide has an intriguing profile now in handicap company with a hood on for the first time and could chase the selection home.
CHURCH HALL – Last won a race all the way back in 2014 at Ffos Las and has been off for just over a year. Has won off two pounds higher than this mark before but has clearly had his problems and it would be an exceptional effort from Emma-Jane Bishop were he to turn up 100% fit, risky.
BECAUSESHESAIDSO – Won his first race under rules which was a bumper back in 2014 but has yet to score in eight starts over fences and hurdles. He reappeared after a break at Chepstow and finished a moderate sixth, he has been dropped three pounds for that however and should be respected for the in-form Venetia Williams based off his third two starts ago.
POINT N SHOOT – Won on his penultimate start of last season at this venue when scooting clear by fifteen lengths. Couldn’t follow up off seven pounds higher next time out at Chepstow but has been given a break since and remains with potential for progression at a course he enjoys; one to consider.
OAKIDOAKI – Has made just two starts in handicaps since switching from novices’ hurdles and has yet to really land a blow. Had some reasonable form behind the likes of Benatar before receiving a mark but hasn’t shown enough to make you think he is particularly well handicapped off his current mark of 100.
RISING TIDE – Made a very promising debut behind the useful William Henry in a bumper at Ayr in 2015 but has yet to really build on that. Has raced just three times since then and was beaten a long way last time, looks the type to do much better in handicaps however and is an interesting proposition.
GOWELL – Comes here having made nine starts over fences and hurdles combined but has yet to win on any of those occasions. There was a little bit of encouragement to be had on his last run at this course and distance where he was beaten just six lengths into third, each way possibilities off the same mark today.
SIR HUBERT – Ran an excellent race in January at Plumpton when beaten just half a length off the same mark he races off here. A strike rate of zero wins from thirteen attempts is slightly concerning however and he needs to take a small step forward if he is to be winning this, definite place possibilities however.
TOUCH SCREEN – Ran in plenty of novice chases and showed some potential before hacking up when switched to handicaps for the first time over this course and distance two weeks ago. Has been raised six pounds for that but looked to have plenty in hand that day and it is unlikely that it will stop him running another big race.
KAVANAGHS CORNER – Made seven starts over timber without winning before being switched to chasing. Ran a decent race to finish third on his chasing bow at Bangor but was pulled up after a monster lay-off last time at this track, entitled to come on for that run but a risky betting proposition following that performance.
GOODNIGHTIRENE – Reappeared after over year off in June to make her first start for Laura Young but was pulled up having never got into the race. She met the same fate at Worcester last time and although she has been dropped to a mark of just 80 and makes her chase debut she has plenty of questions to answer.
BOBONYX – Ran well two starts ago to finish second beaten six lengths at Taunton but was pulled up when last seen at Huntingdon. He has been dropped two pounds for that and may appreciate the break he has been given but he has still yet to win over fences and others make more appeal in this field.
