A field of eight go to post for the first race of the day at Haydock on Thursday, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.
IN SUMMARY: An in form front runner, MISS SHERIDAN kept on gamely to make all at Carlise on her latest start and a two pound rise looks very unlikely to stop her going in again for Michael Easterby. She can dominate this field from the front once again for her fourth victory in five starts, with conditions perfect for her under three pound claimer Nathan Evans. Of the remainder, Le Celebs Ville also arrives in form but has a huge weight to carry and Hidden Charms is somewhat interesting if leaving her latest run well behind her.
LA CELEBS VILLE – Arrives on a hat-trick for Tom Dascombe, taking her second race on the bounce when narrowly holding on at Haydock on her latest start. As a result she’s up five pounds and the drop back in trip poses little problem, though she carries a huge weight in this and faces some other in form rivals. She’s likely to be on the premises under Paddy Pilley who offsets her penalty, but she should just miss out for win purposes.
MAKE ON MADAM – Has finished second on two of her last three runs, last seen at Beverley when narrowly denied by a game front runner. She’s up three pounds as a result and she’s going to face a similar task once again in this, with Miss Sheridan unlikely to let her past. She has each way claims once again under PJ McDonald but she looks vulnerable for win purposes as she may just lack the gear chance to beat a few of these.
MISS SHERIDAN – In-form front runner for Micheal Easterby who has won three of her last four starts, taking her latest victory at Carlisle two weeks ago. She made all in her usual game style, holding on well when pressed and she looks value for another victory off just two pounds higher. Nathan Evans retains the ride and takes three pounds of her back, which furthers her claims and the ground is firmly in her favour. Unlikely to be passed if in the same form once again.
TRILLANT – Lightly raced filly for Ed Walker who ran her best race when third at Salisbury on her penultimate run, well clear of the fourth who was six lengths back. That didn’t look the strongest of maidens and she struggled again on her latest start at Goodwood, only able to muster up sixth. She makes her handicap debut off a mark of 76 and this drop back in trip should suit on previous evidence, though it’s hard to be confident and others make more appeal on this occasion.
TOY THEATRE – Races mainly on the all weather where she has recorded both her victories for Mick Appleby, running well on her latest start to finish second at Wolverhampton. She is only up a pound, but she does have something to prove returned to the turf and will need to improve if she’s to be threatening in this field. She also has to overcome an 89 day break, so she is likely best watched on this occasion.
HIDDEN CHARMS – Won on her debut at Wolverhampton in March with a strong late search but her turf/handicap was less successful, finishing a tailed off seventh. She drops back in trip now which looks the right move, but she was struggling from a long way out so maybe the trip wasn’t to blame. Hard to rule her out completely as she remains completely unexposed but others are far more convincing.
CONQUERESS – Won on her final start of 2016 when taking a Lingfield maiden in August, but she has returned in dismal form for Tom Dascombe and the first time cheekpieces need to spark a major revival. She was last seen on the turf at Lingfield, finished a poor ninth where she dropped out tamely and she’s almost impossible to recommend on that basis.
OUR GRETA – Won a five furlong maiden at Thirsk on her third start but she has failed to build upon that in four runs since, looking laboured on her seasonal debut at Leicester in May. The step up in trip is far from guaranteed to suit and others have more pressing claims.
