6 promising looking hurdlers go to post for the third race of the day at Haydock, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.
IN SUMMARY: MOUNT MEWS certainly looked promising on his hurdling debut at Haydock earlier this month, with a nice success by 4 lengths and the 3rd in a different county. He should have no problems taking this contest to go onto better things, although Stowaway Magic will be no push over as he drops back in trip after a good 2nd behind a decent rival at Plumpton a few weeks ago.
1 MOUNT MEWS – Showed lots of promise in bumpers, winning both and was an easy winner of his hurdling debut at Kelso earlier this month, dismissing his rivals with the minimum of fuss (2m, Good to Soft). Should have much more to give with that experience under his belt as it was his seasonal reappearance so should be very difficult to beat if improving for the run.
2 STOWAWAY MAGIC – Showed good form in bumpers and has shown clear promise in two hurdles runs today, finishing 2nd to a good looking type at Plumpton on his latest start (2m 4f, Good to Soft). Going down in trip could suit as he won a bumper at that distance, but will need to raise his game again to throw down a big challenge to the favourite. Considered.
3 CAKE D’ISLE – Beaten decisively on bumper debut at Uttoxeter in November and although he’s in very capable hands, he’s probably best watched today.
4 DU SOLEIL – Wasn’t hard pressed when winning on his bumper debut at Haydock last month (1m 7f, Soft), and that form doesn’t seem to amount to much more than average. Could have place chances if one of the principles falters however.
5 GRAND COUREUR – Thrice raced over hurdles, never really involved on any occasion and this is probably just as tough, if not tougher than his previous exploits. Likely to struggle again today.
6 SPIRIT OF HALE – Very modest form in three bumpers and three hurdle races thus far, and doesn’t make any appeal today.
