Seven horses’ face off here in what should be a fascinating Conditions Stakes with several of the top yards represented. Read on for our experts’ thoughts and betting tips.
IN SUMMARY: This should boil down to match between Bargain Buy and SOMETHINGTHRILLING. The former was a good winner here coming back after a five month break last month and she should continue to give a good account here. She may just bump into one here though with David Elsworths’ charge having a stout pedigree and a good profile to win races over this trip. She can prove best today in what she be a thrilling little contest.
1 Yeah Baby Yeah – Good filly who has won a couple of fair races on the AW in France this year and ran well at Class 5 and Class 6 level over here at the turn of the year but has struggled since on an artificial surface. Contested at Listed level at Maisons-Lafitte in October and wasn’t that far behind in ninth in an incredibly tight finish with no more than two lengths between the front 9. Only fourth at Wolverhampton on last start 22 days ago. Has a bit to find for win purposes today.
2 Bint Dandy – Two wins at this level including here two years ago over 7f. Hasn’t shown her true colours over this trip in her last few starts including down the field in the Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge at Ascot in June. Only fifth of 7 at Wolverhampton 22 days ago (Yeah Baby Yeah in fourth) and her long losing streak of 27 runs without a win looks set to continue as she doesn’t seem to be able to see out her races despite travelling well in the early stages. Down in the weights now and has cheek-pieces on today but held on recent form with market principals.
3 Somethingthrilling – Lightly-raced Makfi filly who won on debut at Pontefract last year and has run to a fairly consistent level this Autumn. Won here over this trip two starts ago in a Class 4 handicap and ran a very nice race in third last time out in a Class 2 against the boys. A strong traveller, she should benefit from the drop in grade here and she appears to have more in the locker than most of these. Big player.
4 Bargain Buy – Tamayuz filly who has won here twice including on debut and last time out in 5 runs, both over 7f. A winner at Class 5-3 level including latest when ahead of Shypen in second and Summer Icon in third when a comfortable 1¼ length winner. Should continue to improve and likely to go very well again under Pat Cosgrave.
5 Daisy Bere – Good winner of a Class 5 at Nottingham (Good/Soft) in April over 1m2f but has largely struggled over that trip and in minor races since. Fourth of 14 last time out at Newcastle and a better showing might be in the offing considering she won at this trip at the start of the year but on recent form she does look well held with some of these.
6 Shypen – Decent filly from the Richard Fahey yard and second behind Bargain Buy two starts ago here over 7f. Only fourth at Chelmsford behind 25/1 stablemate at Chelmsford on Thursday. Upped in trip here and turned out again quickly she looks up against it here with the front two in the market. NON-RUNNER.
7 Summer Icon – Won a Class 5 at Newcastle (Good) in May and mixed form in two runs since upped in grade. Ran a career-best third after a 193-day break in the race won by Bargain Buy here at the end of November and is now 5lb better off with that rival. The front two look more progressive however and her strike-rate is slightly off-putting for win purposes and she should finish third.
