A 7 runner claiming race is the third race of the day at Southwell on New Years Day, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.
IN SUMMARY: Despite a year off the track ENTIHAA still has very strong claims for his new yard on fibresand debut. He is weighted very well on his previous wins and if fully revved up for this race he should put in a very strong effort under very capable 5lb claimer Hollie Doyle. The main danger is likely to be Luv U Whatever who has a similar profile but has been far from convincing of late.
1 LUV U WHATEVER – Well held in his last two handicaps, but he is much better than this grade at his best. He’s clearly risky but if back to anywhere near his best he should be a big danger today and has to be respected.
2 EDGAR – Hasn’t been seen since pulling up over fences at Newton Abbot back in July and although conditions are fine today, he still has a lot to find on his best flat form.
3 OBBOORR – Consistent in the main and running well, and his latest start was a good 3rd at Newcastle in October (1m 4f, Std). Has had a break and makes fibresand/stable debut today, and although he does have something to find he should be respected with improvement very much possible.
4 AN FEAR CIUIN – Wont mind the return to all weather today and has a good chance at the weights, winning twice in his past three runs. The drop back in trip is a slight concern as his latest run at 1m 4f resulted in a well beaten 3rd of 5 at Catterick in October (1m 4f, Soft).
5 ENTIHAA – Has a great chance on his best form including wins at Class 2 level back in 2014 on the all weather, but has not been seen now for just over a year and makes his fibresand debut today. He is however weighted very well and if fully revved up for today he may be able to capitalise and a strong case can be built for him.
6 TATTING – 12 time winner on the all weather including here over slightly shorter a few weeks ago (1m 3f, Std). Very consistent in the main and has to be considered a leading contender today with the inform Shane Kelly on board.
7 BRIGADOON – Finished 2nd here behind Tatting last time out and seems unlikely to reverse those placings with the winner seemingly having a lot in hand. Place claims however if building on that run.
