Only 3 go to post for the feature race of the day at Leicester with £18,768 up for grabs. Read on for our experts’ thoughts and betting tips.
IN SUMMARY: Given the number of runners this should be tactical race and all 3 have a realistic chance. Forgotten Gold won well in April in his fats foray into Veteran company and has chance if over his last run but this may be best left to Godsmejudge and CAULFIELDS VENTURE. The former has been given a chance by the Handicapper and looked like he was coming back to himself at Cheltenham last time out, he will go close if repeating that but the selection won well at Exeter last month and looks the type who can defy his penalty in this line-up.
1 Forgotten Gold – First run in Veteran company back in April and won impressively by 8 lengths that day. Below form when only 8th of 10 at Aintree last time out on seasonal bow when something looked amiss but has clear chance if rediscovering the form of that earlier win.
2 Caulfields Venture – Made it 4 wins from his last 5 starts at Exeter on his second start of the season last month, staying on well to get up by a neck. Doesn’t always hold his form that well but is fit from that recent outing and has an outstanding chance of following up in this company.
3 Godsmejudge – Hasn’t won for 3 years having been previously trained by Alan King. Decent 7th in an Amateur Rider’s Handicap Chase and has been given a lenient mark to contend with. May find the selection too hot to handle though.
