Our race preview takes a look at a competitive Handicap Chase at Worcester. See our betting tips below to find a front runner who’s jumping could well be the key to success today.
IN SUMMARY: Canicallyouback was only just beaten by Croco Bay on his last start when also beating the very capable Germany Calling, so his claims are obvious for all to see. However, OWEN NA VIEW posted a good effort latest when front running his way to 2nd at Killarney when jumping with fantastic fluency throughout. He shouldn’t have any competition for the lead in this and if jumping with the same fluency he did in Ireland, he could be a tough nut to crack.
1 ROMAN FLIGHT – Has a solid record of 2 from 5 over fences and posted a good enough effort when 2nd at Stratford latest (19.5f, Good). He was probably flattered by his closeness to the winner who was only pushed out under hands and heels, and what is of more concern were the several jumping mistakes he made early on. With several good jumpers in this field, a lack of fluency will cost him dear, if ironing those out however it’ll be no surprise to see him involved.
2 MINELLA DEFINITLEY – All the credit in the world had to be given to Denis O’Regan for his victory at Cartmel back in May (17.5f, Good). He needed plenty of stoking and rousting throughout, but picked up strongly towards the finish to go clear by 9 lengths. Longer trips probably haven’t been ideal the last twice and back down to this trip he should have his part to play, but as evidenced he can race very lazily.
3 MISS TENACIOUS – Has struggled since winning at Warwick back in May (16f, Good to Soft), with only 1 place since. Is usually there or thereabouts but has been well held the last twice, suggesting she probably needs her mark to slide a bit before she can get back into the winning enclosure.
4 CANICALLYOUBACK – His hat-trick bid was foiled latest at Worcester (16.5f, Good), which was by no means a bad run as he was beaten by Croco Bay narrowly with Germany Calling held behind him. If improving again (which he has done for each run since his Uttoxeter win in July) he will be in the thick of this and will probably be tough to beat as he races off of the same mark.
5 OWEN NA VIEW – Last win came back in April at Perth (16f, Good), and although he’s been largely disappointing since, his last two runs are starting to show signs of a revival. His jumping last time out at Killarney (17f, Good) was sublime and was only beaten by a promising looking Mullins horse. He shouldn’t have any competition for the lead today and if jumping with the same pinpoint accuracy, he could be a tough nut to crack.
6 EASILY PLEASED – Was best of the rest latest when 2nd at Newton Abbot (16.5f, Good to Firm) when no match for a run away winner. Not really been showing any signs of threatening for a victory since May though and might be one to pass over today.
7 SPOCK – Losing run stretches all the way back to September 2013 and hasn’t shown any signs of wanting to change that this year, so vey easily passed over in a field as competitive as this.
myracing Forecast Prices: 13/8 Canicallyouback, 5/2 Roman Flight, 9/2 Owen Na View, 13/2 Minella Definitely, 10/1 Easily Pleased, 10/1 Miss Tenacious, 66/1 Spock
