Ten runners have been declared for the Class 4 sprint handicap on Musselburgh’s Wednesday card. Read our full race preview for our experts’ betting tips.

IN SUMMARY: Nothing really leaps out of this field of exposed handicappers but there is some each-way value in PEARL ACCLAIM. David Nicholls’ 6yo finished last after fluffing the start on his latest outing but that’s not a regular occurrence with him. He’d been shaping as though his turn might be near beforehand, is suited by the sharp 5f here and is on a workable mark. Olivia Fallow may just have lost her edge in recent weeks but there have been mitigating circumstances and she’ll be a very tough nut to crack if matching the form of her second in a valuable C&D event in June. One Boy has some questions to answer but he’s very attractively weighted if Richard Fahey can find the key to him.

1 Olivia Fallow – Seems to have gone off the boil recently and never really got involved after a slow start at Doncaster on latest outing but is now back on the same mark as when runner-up in a valuable C&D event in June and has obvious claims if back at that level.

2 Rosina – Yet to match best 2yo form this season but been given some help by the handicapper and ran quite well when keeping-on third of seven at Ripon (5f, good) on latest outing; will make her presence felt here if building on that performance.

3 Fast Act – Placed in Group company as a 2yo but was seen only twice in 2015 and been unable to land a significant blow on any of his five starts this season, the latest when tried in blinkers (now removed); continues to slide down the weights but it’s hard to tell when he’ll find his correct level.

4 Adam’s Ale – Not operating at the same level as last season but took advantage of dropping handicap mark when coming from off the pace to score at Haydock (5f, soft) last month; not seen to quite the same effect on decent ground on last couple of outings, though.

5 Mappin Time – Bounced back from a poor 6f run when scoring at Beverley (5f, good to firm) a fortnight ago; enjoyed the run of the race from a good draw on that occasion, though, and is 4lb higher against stronger opposition here.

6 Pearl Acclaim – Finished last of 11 after blowing the start on latest outing last month and has a modest 3-38 strike-rate but had been in good form beforehand and landed a valuable prize over C&D last season; on a workable mark now and enters calculations; change of headgear.

7 Economic Crisis – Improved significantly upon low-key seasonal/stable debut when scoring over C&D (good to firm) last month but she was treated quite sternly by the handicapper for that and has finished down the field on both subsequent outings; others preferred.

8 Thorntoun Lady – Ended last season with two disappointing performances and was always towards rear when 50/1 for belated reappearance this month; well handicapped now but could be considered only if much stronger in the betting this time.

9 One Boy – Made pleasing seasonal/stable debut when second at Thirsk (6f, soft) in April but is yet to build on that performance and recent experiments with different types of headgear haven’t paid dividends; lurks on a dangerous mark but losing run stretches back to April 2014.

10 Bunce – Stayed on well to gain narrow-margin success at Ayr (5f, good to soft) a couple of weeks ago; will be fine on today’s faster ground and is evidently in good nick but contests a much stronger race from just out of the weights today and may prove vulnerable.
