1.20pm Lingfield Tips & Betting Preview 14/12/2016

IN SUMMARY: Preference is for ALFREDO, who was a 100,000gns purchase and is undefeated so far on the All Weather. A C&D winner who should have further improvement in him, he may well be too good for this field on his first start since in October. No others have much appeal but the main danger may come from Yes Daddy who ran respectably last time out at Chelmsford.

1 WINTER SPICE – Firmly in the Handicappers grasp since winning at Nottingham back in 2014 (1m4f, Good to Firm) and most likely best watched on his first start since May where he was disappointing at Kempton (1m6f, Std).

2 YES DADDY – Better known as hurdler but made a decent switch back to the flat when 3rd at Chelmsford last month, although no match for the winner (2m, Std). Weakened badly in the closing stages and doesn’t give the impression he’s well treated but place claims nonetheless.

3 ALFREDO – On a decent enough mark still after two wins on the All Weather including here over C&D in September. First run since finishing 2nd at Newmarket (2m, Good) and is lightly raced which gives optimism that there is still room for improvement and has to be highly respected.

4 VOICE CONTROL – Usually a consistent performer but really doesn’t have room for error off his current mark, and although his last run was decent he was no match for the winner at Chelmsford last month (2m, Std). Still has time on his side but doesn’t strike as an obvious winner.

5 FAST PLAY – Lightly raced and performing well of late when 2nd at Wolverhampton last month (1m4f, Std). Didn’t stay the trip when tried this C&D in September which tempers enthusiasm, especially as he has a tendency to pull hard.

6 MISS TIGER LILY – Capable off this mark, handling the track and this trip and has definite place claims but may well find one of these to quick for him up the homestraight.

7 RAVENS QUEST – Has been gelded since a tailed off last at Kempton in September (1m, Std to Slw) and goes up markedly in trip. Stamina is a main concern against some accomplished stayers and probably best watched as pedigree suggests he might not stay the distance.
