Sha Tin Chairman’s Sprint Prize Tips & Betting Preview

Part of the Global Sprint Challenge but sadly no Europeans have entered even with £1.4 million of prize money on offer. That does not detract from a class field that should put in a race well worth watching Sunday morning.

IN SUMMARY: Despite the twelve runners the betting has a lop sided look to it with new Hong Kong superstar MR STUNNING looking to live up to his name. He should prove way too good for Lucky Bubbles though Thewizardofoz could make the frame at a big price.

1 AEROVELOCITY – An ever popular local sprinter with seven wins to his name but his owner has announced that he will retire after this race win or lose and head off to a paddock in Australia. Not the force of old.

2 MR STUNNING – The next big thing in the local sprinting ranks he has looked a picture in his work all week and is most certainly the one to beat. Tactically versatile he can sit up there or come from off the pace and is looking for his fifth win on only his seventh start, is still improving, and has the added bonus of Joao Moreira in the saddle.

3 LUCKY BUBBLES – Sent off odds on when a two and a half length third to Mr Stunning and Peniaphobia connections will be hoping that was a blip and he can get back to winning ways. Might not have the room to improve much further but a serious form threat under Hugh Bowman here.

4 PENIAPHOBIA – Ahead of Lucky Bubbles last time but behind Mr Stunning. May well make all the running here and try to fend them all off for trainer Tony Cruz and the in-form Neil Callan but unlikely to be getting better at the age of six. Working as well as ever in the mornings though.

5 AMAZING KIDS – Three career wins with Moreira in the saddle twice, not really gone on for a win here in January when ahead of Not Listenin’Tome and well beaten when sent to Meydan behind The Right Man. Bit of an outsider today, Brett Pebble rides.

6 NOT LISTENIN’TOME – Behind Amazing Kids, Pemiaphobia, and then Mr Stunning in his last three races. Sent to Meydan when seventh to Mind Your Biscuits and has a lot to do to reverse all the form today. Twice a course and distance winner.

7 BLIZZARD – Needs to find at least five pounds here to get competitive which seems unlikely, Over four lengths behind Mr Stunning last time with no excuses, and that leaves him with plenty to find. Does stay further and will be running on late.

8 SUN JEWELLERY – Heading in to big priced outsiders territory now and John Size will need to work miracles for this one to beat his stable favourite. Eight races without a win now and look totally outclassed.

9 THEWIZARDOFOZ – Yet another who needs to reverse recent form with Mr Stunning after finishing a four and three quarter length third to his stable companion after Lucky Bubbles are disqualified. Needs to do more but could challenge for a place with Chad Schofield on his back and has looked good during workouts.

10 STRATHMORE – Only win was at Happy Valley in November 2015 and looks here to make up the numbers. Quoted at 40/1 but should be even bigger than that.

11 – DUNDONNEL – Non-Runner.

12 DASHING FELLOW – One win this season in March here over a seventh furlong and over six lengths off Mr Stunning last time out and behind most of this field. Likely to help force the pace before being passed by the main players today.
