Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners 8th October 2017

Nigel Twiston-Davies Weekly Column

A big “well done” to Nigel for giving us Ballybolley as his Charity Bet last week after the eight-year-old won a shade cleverly by four lengths at Market Rasen and at the rewarding odds of 10/1 as well. This week he has the two runners on Sunday to look forward to, so after discovering all is well with the stable stars ahead of an exciting campaign, we spoke about his chances of a winner or two this weekend.

Nigel’s Charity Bet

As always, we’ve given Nigel a £50 charity bet to place on a horse of his choice – and this week it will be on……

Templeross 3.30pm Uttoxeter

“Not an easy race to win if I am being honest, with the majority of the ten runners looking very closely matched, but I wouldn’t swap mine for any of the others, and I am looking forward to the challenge. He was probably a match for these over hurdles at his best but I am pretty confident he can go on to be even better over fences. He jumps well and has a bit of experience from point-to-points to call on, and won’t mind the trip or the soft ground this afternoon – I will be surprised if he doesn’t put up a very bold showing at the very least.”

If Templeross wins, we’ll donate the winnings to the Injured Jockeys Fund!

Other runners:

Brownville 4.35pm Uttoxeter

“He did win his last race which was also here at Uttoxeter, but that was back in May and I do think he would prefer a little bit further than this three miles which may well be his barest minimum these days. I have him as fit as I can get him at home and he is working and schooling well enough so I am hopeful more than confident and will be disappointed if he doesn’t at least go close.”
