Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners 4th and 5th November 2017

Nigel Twiston-Davies Weekly Column

Yet another winning charity bet for Nigel with Calett Mad last week and the stable continue in great form. Nigel has a lot of runners this weekend so down to work…….

Nigel’s Charity Bet

As always, we’ve given Nigel a £50 charity bet to place on a horse of his choice – and this week it will be on……

Arctic Gold 1.35pm Ayr Saturday

“He didn’t quite get home over the three miles at Perth last time out when letting supporters down but will be far happier back at this trip and seems certain to run a big race. I like the look of pretty much everything about this race and track, trip and going all seem ideal, so hopefully he can land the charity bet this afternoon.”

If Arctic Gold wins we’ll donate the winnings to the Injured Jockeys Fund!

Other Saturday runners:

Saturday

Corzeam 12.40 Ascot

“Not exactly one I expect to win though he will be trying his best. he has refused to race twice now and I am hoping the fewer runners and big wide track will encourage him to at least play his part.”

Ballymoy 12.55 Wetherby

“I do think a lot of him but he pulled too hard in his latest bumper when I fancied his chances, but he settles well at home now and has run well in a point to point and has schooled well over hurdles so I won’t be putting anyone off backing him today.”

Little Pop 2.25pm Ascot

“This is a huge jump up in class but he likes the better ground and any early rain today won’t help his chances. This could be a step too far for him but the prize money is good and we have to give him a chance and see how he gets on.”

Wholestone 2.40pm Wetherby

“He was one of the better three mile novices last season and has to step up in quality now so we can see how good he really is. He ran well enough over twenty furlongs last time which is too short for him and he will be far happier over this trip – I’m excited and very hopeful he is as good as we think.”

Blaklion and Bristol De Mai 3.15pm Wetherby

“I honestly cannot pick between the pair of them and although they will both run well, this is a very competitive renewal as you can see. Both are top class staying chasers but I can’t sensibly suggest a bet with the Betfair Chase the target for Bristol De Mai and the Becher Chase for Blaklion later in the season.”

Ballycross and Ballykan 3.35pm Ascot

“The nod between these two relies on the actual going with Ballykan liking it on the good side and Ballycross preferring plenty of cut in the turf. both will run well but again I cannot pick between the pair – though a one-two would be nice in either order!”

Cydercourt 3.50pm Ayr

“He is a very nice bumper horse and up for sale if any of the Myracing followers are interested in making a purchase? He will run well here and could even win but you can never be sure what you are up against in these races and for that reason alone I cannot really suggest a bet.”

Sunday

Count Meribel 12.55 Carlisle

“I think he has an excellent chance of adding to his course and distance success last month and I am pretty hopeful that his more serious opposition may well need a run in which case he may well come home clear of this field but will no doubt be priced accordingly.”

Templeross 2.30pm Carlisle

“He found things happened a bit too quickly for him when fourth over shorter on his return to action but he will love the soft going predicted here and the longer trip and will run a big race this afternoon, hopefully a winning one.”
