Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners 27th & 28th May 2017

This time of year is bound to be that little bit quieter for the (primarily) National Hunt yards, but Nigel rarely has a day off as we all know by now, and has runners both days again this weekend.

Nigel’s Charity Bet

Uttoxeter 4.15pm Sunday – Ballybolley to win.

“He is as consistent as they come and runs well in every race I ever place him in and is rapidly becoming a bit of a stable favourite. He was behind Henryville at Newton Abbot last time out but is weighted to reverse that form on Sunday afternoon, and I am pretty hopeful that is exactly what will take place. Whatever happens he won’t give anything but his best as always.”

If Ballybolley wins , we’ll donate the winnings to the Injured Jockeys Fund!

Saturday

2.20pm Haydock – Arthur McBride

“I hope he runs well enough as he is currently entered for Royal Ascot on the Tuesday which would be interesting for us! He will run better than he did on his return at Ascot earlier this month as it seems he needed the race more than I realised, so fingers crossed for top hat and tails time next month.”

6.00pm Ffos Las – Sir George Somers

“Although he finished fourth of eleven on his Kempton debut he was a bit disappointing to me as I think quite a bit of him based on his home work. He is learning all the time and that was his hurdling debut, and I am hoping he can run really well and maybe even win this evening.”

6.30pm Ffos Las – West Torr

“He is having his first run over fences here but looks potentially well handicapped to me, and he schools well enough at home to suggest a decent debut. This is more of an exploratory run this evening so I cannot be too confident, but he has what it takes and could surprise.”

Sunday

3.05pm Uttoxeter – Aldeburgh

“The truth is he needs genuine Good ground to be seen at his best so I am one of the few trainers hoping the predicted thunderstorms stay away from the course. He will go pretty close to winning his first race over hurdles, though if the rains do come in sufficient quantity be warned, he will not run.”

4.45pm Uttoxeter – Brownville

“The opposite of Aldeburgh in that he needs genuine soft ground to produce, though this three and a quarter mile event is not the hottest contest ever seen and he is a genuine sort who may well challenge for at least some of the win and place prize fund.”
