Trainer with 52% juvenile strike-rate in 2021 runs one on Monday

Windsor Racecourse

There’s plenty of racing to get stuck into on Monday. Carlisle, Ffos Las, Redcar, Leicester and Windsor all host action, and we’ll have horse racing tips for all five meetings.

2021 has been an incredible year for trainer George Boughey, especially with his two-year-olds. The Newmarket-based up-and-comer has sent out 17 juvenile runners in 2021, with nine returning to the winner’s enclosure. That’s a remarkable 52% strike-rate, with two juveniles striking at Newmarket yesterday.

As a result, all of his two-year-old runners have to be of strong interest and he runs just one on Monday. The runner in question goes to Windsor and you can find all the details below!

5.50 Windsor – British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes

The horse in question is Cashew, a daughter of Bated Breath who cost 40,000 euros as a yearling. She’s already hit the track on a pair of occasions this year, sent off favourite for her debut at Newcastle in April. She ran well below mark expectations that day, looking in desperate need of the run and only getting the idea of things in the dying strides.

Reappearing at Salisbury earlier this month, she travelled well into that five-furlong contest and kept plugging away in the closing stages, losing out to a pair of useful looking rivals in the final furlong. Stepping up to six furlongs will really suit on that evidence and unlike all of her main rivals, she boasts plenty of experience.

Only one other horse in the field boasts experience and she also gains the services of Ryan Moore. Moore has been riding out of his skin in recent weeks and his presence in the saddle is a huge boost. Boughey has sent out 15 runners in the last past two weeks and quite incredibly, seven have returned to the winner’s enclosure. This filly has an excellent chance of enhancing that strike-rate for a yard clearly going places.
