‘The bookies are terrified’ – Lingfield runner’s price in freefall on Wednesday 😱

Big Impact hasn’t been seen for 272 days and finished sixth on his last start at Brighton in October. Before that however he didn’t finish out of the first two in three starts. This includes a two-length victory at Chelmsford two starts ago off a 5lb lower mark.

It’s impossible to knock the form of that win which worked out unbelievably well. The second, third and fourth all went on to record hat-tricks subsequently with a number of other winners coming out of the race. That form suggests he should be capable of winning of this kind of mark.

A substantial lay-off such as this 272-day break is a cause for concern as he’d be fully justified if needing the race badly. His record after a break is mixed and it would be some training performance to have this horse ready to win today. It’ll certainly be interesting to see the outcome of this big gamble and it could be one to watch throughout the day.
