Harry Skelton the man to follow at Cartmel

With two winners from three rides at Cartmel already this season, Harry Skelton is the man to follow at the track on Monday. The first is Hidden Fortune in the 2m1f novices’ hurdle, an Irish point winner who impressed when landing a 2m2f novice at Fontwell on hurdling bow 11 days ago and there could be plenty more to come.

Next up is Tranquil Sea in the 3m1f handicap hurdle. He bolted up in a valuable stayers handicap at Plumpton and was a solid fourth at Haydock last time. He is likely to make his presence felt once again and has age on his side.

In the closing 2m5f handicap chase, Pony Soprano will take his chance. The combination of the new headgear worked the oracle when winning a 2m5f handicap chase at Uttoxeter on latest and the 7lb rise is more than fair.

Shark Hanlon with two Huntingdon runners

Lady’s Choice took a tumble on both outings in points and is yet to show much ability over hurdles, pulled up at Sligo a couple of weeks ago. She will need to find a lot here on her chase debut.

Stay In The Game has a similar profile and runs in the 2m handicap hurdle. Still a maiden after 15 starts, he will need to improve but this is a very weak race and he may well do.

Mayo National the feature of the day at Ballinrobe

The valuable Mayo National is the highlight on a lovely Ballinrobe card on Monday and it would be no surprise to see Maxxum take the spoils. Gordon Elliott has won the last three renewals of the contest and this smart hurdler won over fences at Clonmel in April before a good fourth in a Grade 3 at Killarney a fortnight ago. He could be well treated.
