It wouldn’t be a proper day of racing on a Saturday if leading trainer Dan Skelton didn’t have several good chances and one horse went into the notebook after his recent Racing Post Stable Tour. The horse runs in the extended 2m4f handicap hurdle at Newbury and must be considered at a good price. Make sure you check out all of the weekend’s free horse racing tips on the website.
A Dan Skelton quote stuck out to me and the quote was in relation to Lac De Constance, who is currently hovering at around the 8/1 mark with Harry Skelton booked for the ride.
Skelton said in relation to this horse: “A very talented horse but things haven’t gone smoothly for him. It looked as though things were going right for him at Uttoxeter last month until he fell at the last, but I’m sure he’ll get back to winning form soon enough, although we’ll wait for softer ground. Once we get him back on track I think you’ll see a progressive horse.”
Well, that softer ground is available for Lac De Constance on Saturday as the hurdles track is currently soft at Newbury. He was in the process of running a big race on his reappearance and was challenging the second when he fell at the last.
It will be a surprise if he doesn’t go on to be better than his current rating of 133 and he should be up to landing this competitive handicap before being saved for a crack at a big one at the Cheltenham Festival in March. Best of luck if you have a bet.
