We all know that finding four horses to win and fill a Lucky Fifteen is never the easiest task but we did it again yesterday (Wednesday) with massive returns of £566 to a mere £1 win stake! Watching La Vaticane in the 2.45pm at Wincanton first we knew he was strongly fancied as the 5/2 we took (and suggested) soon disappeared and he was returned a well backed 15/8 at the off. Battling it out with Vic De Touzaine, he was left to coast home by twenty-nine lengths when that rival unseated, and win number one was on the board. Just over an hour later (3.55pm), the same track paid us out once again as Tagrita (5/2) added another winner to the Paul Nichols tally, this time under young Harry Cobham who is superb value for his seven-pound claim. Never in any danger, the eight-year-old only needed to be pushed out after making all the running for a three and a half length success, leaving us to turn our attentions to Wolverhampton’s all weather track for our other two selections. Having taken the 4/1 about Jack Of Diamonds ahead of the mile handicap at 4.40pm we were pleased to see him start a 7/2 shot, suggesting connections felt the same way about his chances as we did! Held up by Callum Shepherd, another apprentice we think a lot of, he only needed to be shaken up inside the last to win going away with a bit in hand, leaving us and lots of you doing rough calculations for the final pay out. Thirty-five minutes was all we had to wait until our last horse ran, this time over a mile and a half in a maiden where we were more than happy with the earlier form of Project Bluebook and had snapped up the early 2/1, and hope you did the same. Backed as if defeat was not an option and sent off a fraction of odds on, jockey John Quinn did give us a few anxious moments we admit before running on at the death for a neck success, but a winner is a winner by however far, and all our bets were successfully landed!
