With just over 6 weeks to go until the start of Cheltenham Festival 2016, Irish trainer Willie Mullins will be looking to earn the spoils once again – just as he did last year; saddling 8 winners from 27 Cheltenham Festival races as well as earning 4 second and 4 third places. He also became the first ever trainer to train a 1-2-3 in the Champion Hurdle.

At this year’s Festival, he’s on course to break records again. And he stands a great chance, 11 of the favourites from 28 races (4 odds on!) this year are all trained by Mullins.

His season starts so far are highly impressive, from 390 runners he has saddled 132 winners which puts him well above his rivals in terms of prize money.

A whopping £1,88 million of his total purse (£2,91m) has been earned on Irish soil and he’ll be looking to add to the pile this weekend at Leopardstown in the Irish Champion Hurdle, with Faugheen a very strong favourite at 4/9.

He’ll also be looking towards Un De Sceaux in the Clarence House Chase, Vroum Vroum Mag at Ascot and Douvan in the Irish Arkle.
