Haydock Full Card Tips 17/07/2015

As so many people have requested extra tips for Haydock, I’ve added a pick for every race. My main tips are in CAPITALS – the rest are picks as requested!

2.10pm – BERMONDSEY at 4/5

This race has broken down into just 3 runners with another Non Runner just announced and I’m expecting the unexposed, highly tried Bermondsey to make it back to back wins and ruin Cyril’s hatrick attempt. He’s been given an opening mark of 82 which is very fair off what he’s shown so far and with the other two being raised 6lb and 7lb respectively for last time out victories and being far more exposed than our pick he should make it a winner start for us at Haydock even if he is now very short odds.

2.40pm – Wayward Hoof at 3/1

A tricky little maiden stakes here, but I’m going to stick with the horse that’s shown best form in the race – I wouldn’t be overly confident but nothing else really catches my eye to be honest. He ran well enough first time out at Newcastle, holds a number of big entries and will come on for his first run. Nothing which has already run has shown any great form and the best bred unraced horses are all too short in the market to make them worth betting without any info.

3.15pm – MOUNT TAHAN at 7/1 EW

Annoyingly 2 Non Runners have taken this from 3 places paid to 2, but let’s hope Mount Tahan wins anyway and then it doesn’t matter! He’s only got 1 win under his belt so far but he’s been tried twice in Class 2s and this is only a Class 4. It’s an interesting drop in trip given he won over 7f and ran well over 8f last time out but Kevin Ryan is no mug and given he pulled hard last time the faster pace should help him to put in a big run.

3.50pm – Electric Qatar at 10/1 EW

Our tip yesterday, he finished a close 2nd off the same market with plenty of late money coming in and Rosie Jessop is on board taking off 3lb so he’s actually better weighted than he was yesterday. We can expect him to be bouncing to run if he is turned out and the cheekpieces which seemed to make all the difference remain on.

4.25pm – Joseph Jefferson at 11/4

4.55pm – Memorial Day at 11/8

Another maiden stakes and the class horse of the race has to be the pick. Memorial Day is extremely well bred, ran very well behind Rifle Range who has franked the form nicely and while he has to carry significantly more weight than any of the others he has an extra year of development in him and he improved dramatically for his two starts so far, expecting much more to come.

5.25pm – Ferdy at 11/1 EW

The favourite is not one for ignoring here, off the same mark as a very good run last time but he’s having a hard campaign – this is his 4th run in 2 months and his 2nd run in 2 weeks and I’ve started questioning whether he really wants to win given he keeps running well without getting home in front. Ferdy has been up and down the weights but this is a lenient mark for him. He was well backed last time out into 10/3 before failing to put up a big effort but his 3 runs before that were all good efforts in better races than this (including a 3rd and a close 2nd) and the blinkers should help him improve.
