Guide to the St Leger Festival Day 3

Doncaster Racecourse

Ladies Day was a difficult one for punters with no favourites going in at Doncaster. But we did land both place parts of our Each Way Double which returned at 21/1 for our ITV Racing Tips. Hopefully winners will be easier to come by on Friday where the Doncaster Cup is the feature race. It’s supported by another 3 pattern class races among others as we build up a head of steam to the big contest itself on Saturday.

Rumble Inthejungle aiming to back up Molecomb success

Connections have made no secret of the regard Rumble Inthejungle is held, with jockey Tom Queally stating he’s “one of the best juvenile’s I’ve ever ridden”. This coming from the man that rode the mighty Frankel is a strong statement! Recently acquired by Cheveley Park Stud, Richard Spencer’s colt will continue to race in the colours of of the Rebel Racing Premier syndicate. Winning the Flying Childers will be no easy task though with a whole host of promising youngsters making up the 11-strong field, which includes Gimcrack 2nd Legends Of War and Well Done Fox for Richard Hannon, who has an excellent record in this race.

Thomas bids to go one better in Doncaster Cup

Rich Ricci and Willie Mullins have almost half the field for the Doncaster Cup, with 3 of the 8 runners. The betting suggests their leading hope is Thomas Hobson under Ryan Moore, who were 2nd in the contest last season. He’s been slightly below form in a couple of runs this summer though and Max Dynamite is an interesting contender at a bigger price, having beaten his aforementioned stablemate in the Melbourne Cup back in November. Renneti completes the trio and despite having his quirks, can’t be ruled out under Frankie Dettori having finished an excellent 2nd in the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.
