All-Weather Thursday Three-For-All 30/1 Treble

Excitement is building ahead of the clash between Altior and Cyrname at Ascot this Saturday and the Betfair Chase at Haydock which sees Bristol De Mai bid for a hat-trick of successes in the race.

A fortnight ago we were unlucky with a winner and two seconds. Hopefully we’ll have more success this week with runners from Chelmsford and Newcastle. Be sure to make use of our tips and analysis as we lead up towards the weekend.

Top Trainer

Peter Chapple-Hyam has sent fifteen runners north from Newmarket to Newcastle over the past five years. Four of these have returned home with the spoils and another eight have placed. He’ll be confident of success as he sends his Deja there this afternoon, our NAP Of The Day.

The son of Youmzain landed a Tapeta maiden back in 2017 for Jeremy Noseda before a year-long absence. He’s won all three starts since joining Chapple-Hyam.

A ten furlong double in turf in 2018 was followed by an impressive win over Kempton’s twelve furlongs in July. A mark of 100 still looks to underestimate the four-year-old. Given that he’s two-from-two on synthetics, he ticks plenty of boxes.

Top Jockey

Rather remarkably Nicky Mackay has ridden three winners from three rides at Newcastle in 2019, and he visits the track for two mounts for John Gosden this afternoon. The most likely winners looks to be the juvenile filly Daily Times.

The daughter of Gleneagles is a half-sister to the precocious Newspaperofrecord, who bolted up at the Breeders’ Cup last November. Her British relation is nowhere near that level but she’s shown plenty that suggests landing this Tapeta novice is within reach.

Second in three consecutive starts over the summer, she got off the mark with an impressive win at Southwell. She ran an encouraging race at Nottingham subsequently, beaten less than four-lengths by one now rated 98. Back on synthetics, she can return to winning ways for the Gosden yard who operate at a 44% strike-rate at Newcastle this year.

Course Specialist

Ian Williams thrives with his stayers and looks to have a strong chance of success tonight with his Noble Behest. The stable acquired him in the summer and he’s taken a little while to hit top form.

He looked back to near his best when finishing second at Wolverhampton over fourteen last month from this mark. He makes a welcome return to two-miles over which he’s won five of seven, and to this venue at which he’s two from two.

The first and last legs of a five-timer came over course and distance a couple of years ago, the latest from an eleven pound higher mark. With his jockey taking a further seven off his back, he’s absolutely thrown in and races over two-miles on synthetics for the first time since that win.
