A Class 4 handicap hurdle over the minimum trip for a prize of £4,549. Read on for expert analysis and betting tips.
IN SUMMARY: TINTED ROSE ran a solid race on handicap debut to finish third and if returning to that form looks to have an each-way shout in an open race. Oxwich Bay is unexposed and can also go well for Ian Williams.
OXWICH BAY – Was placed on both starts over hurdles having won a bumper and a mark of 115 looks quite generous considering he wasn’t far behind the useful looking Robinshill on one of his hurdle starts; should go well.
INN THE BULL – Rated 68 on the flat which is nothing special but has won two of his three starts over hurdles and further progression is not out of the question, a mark of 114 doesn’t look overly harsh and no surprise if he goes close.
ONE FOR BILLY – One win and two thirds so far over hurdles and probably didn’t appreciate a step up in trip when beaten eleven lengths last time, a return to two miles today will probably suit and has an each way chance.
MEGABUCKS – Completely unfancied at 66/1 for his stable debut after a few point-to-point starts and ran an excellent race to be beaten under three lengths into second, should be spot on for this and in with a shout if backing up that performance.
I’LL BE YOUR CLOWN – Ran no sort of race on stable debut when beaten twenty-one lengths and despite being dropped five pounds in the handicap for that performance it would be a shock if he took this, has a lot to prove.
SPIRITUAL MAN – Was sent off a hot favourite for a maiden hurdle two starts ago and came within a neck of winning but failed to build on that promise on his handicap debut when a moderate sixth, has a few questions to answer now.
ZEN MASTER – Switched to Charlie Mann two starts ago and ran a promising first race for the yard when a solid third, sent off 5/2 next time out and lived up to market expectations when winning quite comfortably, more to come now in handicaps.
AMADOUE – Has run quite respectably in all of his four starts to date without seriously threatening to win but most likely that he was targeted at handicaps from the beginning and should feel more at home in this company, his mark is not too harsh and has possibilities.
MASTER VINTAGE – Reappeared after a break of nearly two years to take advantage of a mark of 102 when bolting up by six lengths in January but has failed to recapture that form since, still remains six pounds higher than he was for that win and needs to step up to take this.
BLUE BULLET – Ran a creditable sixth when last seen in what is turning out to be a hot novices’ event with the first following up with a penalty and the second running very well again behind the third in the Champion Bumper next time; each way contender.
MAOI CHINN TIRE – Hasn’t won overs hurdles since 2013 and is only two from twenty-three over timber in his career, Jennie Candish hasn’t had a winner in the last two weeks so stable form isn’t a positive and others make more appeal.
TINTED ROSE – Ran a respectable race when third on handicap debut but has disappointed the last twice when pulled up and then beaten a distance into seventh last time, has dropped in the handicap a few pounds as a result though and could be quietly well handicapped; interesting.
