2.35pm Sedgefield Tips & Betting Preview 02/11/2017

2.35pm Sedgefield tips for Thursday’s Class 3 race. A field of seven dour stayers go to post for this 3m 3f Handicap which will be a huge test of stamina, despite the better ground. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: West Of The Edge stormed away with a chase at Warwick back in April and he can race off a pound lower back over hurdles. This drop back in trip won’t faze him and he’s a big danger, but it’s hard to get away from SUN CLOUD. Malcolm Jefferson’s ten-year-old has been running well since returning to hurdling, winning two of his three starts including a comfortable success when last seen at Perth. Off only five pounds higher, he should be very tough to beat as he’s very well treated on the best of his chasing form.

1 SUN CLOUD – Has won two of his last three races since going back over hurdles, winning at Perth on his return to action this season in comfortable style. He will relish these extra furlongs and with better ground not an issue, he’s the one to beat.

2 BENEFICIAL JOE – Returned to form on his latest start when taking a small field Handicap at Uttoxeter, nutting the eventual second on the post. He’s now four pounds higher and has his stamina to prove at this trip, so others do make more appeal as he’s previously looked one paced at this distance.

3 WEST OF THE EDGE – Another last time out winner, although his came over 3m 5f over fences. He now returns to hurdling off a pound lower mark and he can handle a drop to this distance, but he’d prefer softer ground and should be tapped for speed.

4 ASKAMORE DARSI – Course and distance winner two starts ago when storming clear late on, not disgraced off eight pounds higher when last seen. He can go well fresh and better ground is passable, though he’d definitely prefer softer. Unlikely to be far away.

5 BOURNE – Has proven tough to win with, drawing seven blanks so far in 2017. He was well beaten the last twice on the flat and his previous efforts over timber were nothing to shout about. His current mark is very fair, but others are preferred as he’s solidly out of form. Likely to force the pace.

6 MOORLANDS MIST – Two wins from 17 hurdling starts and his two runs this season have been far from convincing, well beaten in third at Market Rasen last time out. He plodded home that day and that doesn’t bode well for his stamina now upped in trip.

7 SWEET SHIRLEEN – Signed off from the Margaret Mullins yard when tailed off at Downpatrick over the 2m 5f distance, making her debut for James Evans today. She’s shown nothing of note at this distance and is readily dismissed.
