IN SUMMARY: MISS FEISTYPANTS was given little chance on her chasing debut at Worcester, facing up to horses who were rated 120 and upwards. She didn’t disgrace herself on that occasion though and has scope to make a decent chaser in time, so she looks hugely overpriced and will almost certainly out-run her odds under Jerry McGrath. Champion Chase didn’t hang around over timber and looks like an interesting prospect on chasing debut for Kim Bailey.
BEN ARTHUR – Winning hurdler for Kim Bailey who was last seen pulling up at Exeter in March with no excuses on that occasion. He’s not obviously well handicapped on chasing debut and others achieved more over hurdles. Best watched.
ITS A STING – Finished second at Doncaster in February 2015 for Oliver Sherwood, however he was well beaten on all his runs over fences, last seen at Huntingdon in February 2016. Needs to be at his best after 587 days off the track and he’s best watched.
BONOBO – Gained a fourth hurdling success when taking a Newton Abbot seller in September, returning fo fences off a ten pound lower mark. He’s well treated if at his best and he is capable over these obstacles, so he does need to be considered under Adam Wedge.
DIAMOND ROCK – Won a handicap over hurdles back in October 2016, but he’s been well beaten on five subsequent starts. Very little to recommend him on now switching to hurdles and he’s best watched.
LEGAL OK – Went backwards from a good hurdling debut the last twice, well beaten at both Ascot and Fontwell. He went out like a light when asked at Fontwell three weeks ago despite being well backed and he’s best watched here.
GRAND COUREUR – Nine race maiden who ran his best race when second at this venue back in January, however three subsequent efforts were disappointing. There are too many questions to answer today and he’s another who can only be watched.
CHAMPION CHASE – Only six runs over hurdles for Kim Bailey, usually travelling well before finding very little on the bridle. He’s the type to make a much better chaser and his current mark isn’t harsh by any means. Has to be respected for top connections and he should go well.
SAGE MONKEY – Won a weak handicap at this venue over course and distance two starts ago, falling at Worcester when last seen, out of contention at the time. A mark of 91 leaves him vulnerable in this company and he is unlikely to be good enough.
LOVELY BUBBLY – Second in a weak handicap at Plumpton back in April and he was well beaten on his latest start at Southwell, never a factor. More needed on this occasion and others make far more appeal.
MISS FEISTYPANTS – Showed hints of promise over timber for Seamus Mullins and she was set an impossible task on chasing debut, facing up to horses rated 120 and upwards. This is much easier and she has scope over these obstacles, so looks hugely overpriced.
FIRMOUNT GENT – One win from 18 starts in point-to-points and he’s a 14 race maiden under rules, well beaten as the favourite on both his runs for Dan Skelton. At the age of 11 he looks vulnerable to younger horses and the way he faded when last seen isn’t easy to forgive.
COPPERS SQUARE – Has made no impact in four runs under rules for Tom Weston, rated 84 and he’s got little to no chance in this company. He should make a better chaser, but it won’t be enough to see him winning this.
SILENT MAN – Won at the 2m 7f trip at Uttoxeter in May and he needed all of that distance to take victory which makes this drop back in trip questionable. He was well beaten when last seen off today’s mark and he makes no appeal.
