A five furlong nursery to kick off Thursday’s Bath card where the myracing.com tips will once again be in the racecard for every race. Our runner by runner preview and expert tip are below.
IN SUMMARY: It’s very hard to oppose Roger Charlton’s DREAM PROSPECT, who showed promise in maidens for top connections and makes his handicap debut today off a very lenient mark. He looks the type to continue improving with time and if he settles better here, he should blast clear under the in form Dane O’Neill for a first career success. There are lots of unknowns in this field but the main danger should come from Go Bananas, as she travelled well for a long way on her latest start and this drop back in trip should suit.
DREAM PROSPECT – A buzzy individual, he was heavily supported last time in a Windsor maiden but having been too keen, he was unable to see out the contest as well as connections will have liked. The support suggests that he has been showing plenty at home, with a mark of 65 not looking too harsh on his handicap debut. He should settle as he matures and if that is the case, he should be capable of racking up a sequence in nurseries and looks the one to beat.
ALASKAN STAR – Promising debut at Goodwood, he hasn’t got close to backing that up in either run since. He sports first time headgear here which is an interesting addition as he would be on a reasonable level on his initial outing. Gelded before his most recent run, he may just have needed that to blow the cobwebs away.
JUST FOR THE CRAIC – Got off the mark at the sixth attempt when landing a claiming race. He has joined Neil Mulholland on the back of that with an opening gambit of 62 looking fair enough on the form in the book. Adapatable with regards to ground, he has an each way chance but may find others who are less exposed progressing past him.
NOBRASSNOLASS – A shade disappointing since a promising debut, she gets first time cheekpieces added to try and coax a little more from her. The visor she wore the last twice didn’t make any difference so she is probably best watched until she shows that she is capable of progressing.
ZAIN SMARTS – Improved for the step into handicaps last time but that was also her debut on the all weather. If it was the move to these nurseries that prompted the improvement she has an each way chance with no ground worries, having shown a glimmer of promise on both soft and firm ground.
COVE BEACH – Showed little in maidens, failing to improve for headgear and the move into nurseries last time out. The best of her four runs came on rattling fast ground so she may not want too much of the forecast rain to fall. She needs plenty more in any case if she is to get her head in front.
JONNYSIMPSON – Showed promise to work on, on her first two outings. She was a long way below that par on her third outing but fillies can often be excused a poor run. She has experience on this track and this starting point of 61 looks fair enough on her first two runs, has a squeak.
GO BANANAS – Relatively highly tried after a promising debut at this track. She wears first time cheekpieces here after showing a little more last time on her handicap debut. A two pound lower mark dropped back to this trip makes her of interest as she travelled well for a fair way over six furlongs there. She looks the biggest danger to the selection.
CENT FLYING – Showed a little more when fitted with a tongue strap for the first time when last seen. That is quickly removed for his handicap debut which is a little of a concern as the form of his two runs without it suggest this is a stiff task.
NAVARRA PRINCESS – Hasn’t shown much in her three runs for a mark. She is entitled to improve now that she is handicapping but it is going to have to make a significant impact if she is to get her head in front.
RED FOR DANGER – Showed a little more on her third start but she was disappointing on her handicap debut last time out. A first time hood is fitted here as she has too keen to have anything left for the finish there. Even if it works she is still hard to fancy from a win perspective as she needs plenty more to figure.
GO SANDY – Showed a tiny glimmer of promise on her debut but she has not built on that in a pair of quick runs to get a mark. Handicapping should give her more of a chance to show promise but she is very difficult to support on what is in the book so far.
FOLLOWING BREEZE – Has stepped forward a little with each start but not enough to suggest she is capable of competing off 45 here. Her family on the dam side are better over a little further so perhaps she will be seen to better effect over further in time.
