A highly competitive handicap to end the card at Sandown, Mountain Angel bolted up at Ascot last time out and a nine-pound rise in the weights may not stop him winning again, the better ground on offer here does not look an obvious positive for his chances though and MANDARIN is backed to outrun his odds today on debut for Ian Williams. He arrives here looking completely unexposed and with this yard managing to get improvement from new recruits already this season he is supported to land the spoils here at the expense of Frank Bridge, who was a course and distance winner last summer and hinted at a return to the winner’s enclosure when second at Ripon last month.
