IN SUMMARY: A really tough to call three year olds handicap that looks more likely to go to an improver than the ones with the form in the book. Ede’s The Mover (20/1) looks massively overpriced on his best two year old form that includes a place behind a future Listed winner, and if we can forgive him hos return he looks well handicapped and worthy of an each way bet here.
HARLEQUIN ROCK (13/2)– Ex footballer Mick Quinn trains this three year old who had a good juvenile year with wins at Nottingham, Pontefract and Southwell from a total of twelve races. Seems handicapped to his best form and may find one or two who can improve past him today.
TRIDENT TESTED (13/2) – Has had the obligatory three races for a handicap mark with the best of them when fifth at Brighton when last seen. Not really bred for this trip (by Arabian Gleam out of a Verglas mare), but the John Best yard have a good record here so keep an eye on the betting.
ROCK ‘N RED (15/2)– First run in a handicap here and ran well when third to Beauly at Wolverhampton two races ago but failed to build on that last time out at Lingfield. Step up in trip today could well see improvement and he looks to have a half chance of a place tonight. Jockey Jim Crowley is in excellent form and brings a 19% strike rate here to the table.
EDE’S THE MOVER (20/1) – Yet another entry with three runs for a mark and looking to improve for the step up in trip. Has at least got some decent place form to his name after finishing third to Thanksfortellingme at Goodwood (winner unbeaten including a Listed race since) and then second to Art Echo at Brighton. Both those runs could see him rated a lot higher than the 64 he carries today, but he did disappoint on his return at Lingfield when weakening over the mile. Well weighted if he gets the trip which is the big unknown.
AMOR INVICTO (25/1)– REPORTED NON- RUNNER
JUDICIAL ENQUIRY (5/1)– Probably the form choice here after winning over close to this trip on his last race in 2015 when staying on strongly to beat Pivotal Dream by a couple of lengths. The runner up has failed to frank the form when well beaten next time out but we do know he stays and we do know he is in good form and has trained on at three.
FABLE OF ARACHNE (5/1)– Has been kept busy over the winter on the all-weather tracks peaking with a mile win at Kempton two races ago followed by a third over the same trip when running on after the first two home had already flown. Steps up in trip and could be an interesting each way option.
BLUE VISION (10/1)– The Swinbank yard are particularly adept with their handicappers and who knows how well handicapped he is or isn’t after just the three runs over shorter trips. Even his breeding makes that an unknown but he did look one paced over a mile at Southwell hence the step up to this ten furlongs, but he hasn’t shown enough as yet to carry our money.
ORANGECHERIE (20/1)– Will need to improve out of all recognition after three “out with the washing” efforts at Sandown, Kempton and here, the best of which was a twelve lengths seventh of eleven over course and distance. Would be a big surprise and no reason we can see to back him today.
RAINBOW LAD (7/1) – Looks reasonably well handicapped on his third last time out over a mile and a half at Wolverhampton. Stayed on well that day so we cant see why they drop him back in trip but may still run better than his price implies.
SIMPLY CLEVER (12/1) – Forced to carry five pounds more than his allotted weight thanks to race conditions (a minimum weight of eight stone seven when he should carry eight stone two). Jockey Aaron Jones takes the five back off but that isn’t the same, and he looks a no hoper today even if the trip should suit him admirably.
myracing Forecast Prices: 5/1 Judicial Enquiry Fable Of Arachne, 6/1 Trident Tested Rainbow Lad Harlequin Rock Rock N Red, 10/1 Blue Vision Simply Clever, 20/1 Edes The Mover Orangecherie.
