8.15pm Newcastle Tips & Betting Preview 29/09/2017

8.15pm Newcastle tips for Friday’s Class 6 race. A seven furlong handicap featuring the second run of Lady Volante for the EPDS/myracing partnership. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: LADY VOLANTE gets a drop in both class and trip after being too keen early on over a mile last time out. She has run well on both of her last two starts as well as on the Tapeta in the past, so the early show of 20/1 looks rather insulting. Gun Case is thrown in on his best form over this trip, showing up much better at Redcar two starts back. Masquerade Bling is a danger if the cheekpieces work as well at the second time of asking, while Ingleby Angel ideally needs further, but he is well worth watching closely for his old yard.

1 TANAWAR – Twice a winner earlier in the season, he showed a return to that level when a close runner-up last week. Acts on Tapeta, but is yet to finish within three lengths of a winner on this surface and would appeal a little more on turf.

2 WILLSY – Two career efforts on Tapeta are fair, yet he arrives off the back of some well below par starts, most recently at Redcar on Wednesday. He is going to need to do considerably better to land this contest.

3 INGLEBY ANGEL – Won off 94 on his final start for this yard before joining Colin Teague, he re-joins from just 59. All of his best form has been over further but has to be highly respected now back with David O’Meara.

4 GUN CASE – Course and distance winner in August 2016, he has struggled for consistency since. Heavily backed when fourth at Redcar at the end of August he is now six pounds lower and dangerously well treated at present.

5 GREY DESTINY – On a winnable mark, the cheekpieces he has worn on two of his three wins are back on. Running consistently enough of late, but hasn’t helped his own cause with a number of slow breaks. If the headgear sees him away on terms, he has an each way shout.

6 INTIWIN – June 2015 was the last time he got his head in front, the handicapper unable to drop him quick enough of late. Last time over a mile here was his best run for a long time but he is no good thing to build on that.

7 ROSE ECLAIR – Spent the majority of her career sprinting, but a step up to this trip saw her back in the winners enclosure two starts back. She was missing the headgear there, poor in the cheekpieces since and they remain here, so best watched.

8 MASQUERADE BLING – Finally off the mark at the 19th attempt last time when sporting first-time cheekpieces. A four pound higher mark for that success looks fair if the headgear works as well a second time.

9 JACK BLANE – Solid form over this trip from lower marks, including when a runner-up here earlier this month. He needs a little more from a career high mark, but does at least have conditions to suit.

10 STUN GUN – Struggled under both codes the last few months, primarily campaigned over further on the flat. The visor is back on which will need to make a significant impact over a trip that looks on the short side.

11 LADY VOLANTE – Ran well in a deeper contest on her debut for EPDS/myracing, tanking through a mile contest at Thirsk before unable to go with them late on. Tapeta suits fine and, now down in grade, she looks set to run a big race for her owners.

12 JACOB BLACK – Has shown next to nothing for two years, regressing quicker than he can be dropped. He has cheekpieces back on here, but that will have to produce a significant spike in performance to get involved.

13 BROCTUNE PAPA GIO – Course and distance winner last time out when fitted with first-time cheekpieces, beating Jack Blaine. His best form in the last year has all come at this track.  Each way chance if the headgear is as effective a second time.

14 BROUGHTONS FANCY – Returned to form over this course and distance last time behind Masquerade Bling. She is going to have to step forward on that to win this contest, but she is another with a place chance in a competitive race.
