IN SUMMARY: BALGAIR looks to have improved plenty for the switch to the Tom Clover yard and he can take this on the second start for the stable. Jamie Spencer is an eye-catching booking for the yard and he could progress past these today. Exit Europe needs close attention in the betting having been off the track for nearly two years, whilst the booking of Andrea Atzeni on Fire Palace is intriguing.
FINE EXAMPLE – Stall 11 is far from ideal for Kevin Ryan’s runner, but he produced three placed efforts previous to his latest start and he shouldn’t be far away. Even so, he’s 4lbs above his last winning mark which does temper enthusiasm.
TIGERWOLF – Sole success from 14 starts came in a maiden last summer at Salisbury. He’s slipped through the weights this year and a mark of 69 could be exploitable, although he did struggle in similar company to this last time out. Silvestre De Sousa rides.
NEWSTEAD ABBEY – Has found some renewed life of late, notching up two wins and a placed effort from four starts. He remains fairly treated on old form and he should go well again with a fair draw in stall 7 off a mark of 69.
VINCENZO COCCOTTI – 3lbs above his last winning mark and he looks high enough in the weights now, although the drop in grade will help. Stall 14 is the worst draw in the field and Ken Cunningham-Brown’s runner is worth opposing here on the back of that.
PRINCE OF TIME – Notched up three wins from four starts earlier this year and he’s been lightly raced since the last of those victories. He looks high enough in the weights now off a mark of 69 and a 7lb claimer takes over in the saddle to ease some of that burden.
SOPHISTICATED HEIR – Has improved with each start since arriving at Kevin Frost’s stable and he should go well here with Dougie Costello booked to ride. Stall 10 is less than ideal, but there’s every chance that he’s improving at present and he remains well treated on old form. Respected.
BOUNTY PURSUIT – Has gone close on a couple of occasions on the turf since arriving at the Michael Blake yard and the switch to the All-Weather is a major positive today. A mark of 68 is high enough, but there’s still room for improvement in him. Interesting.
FIRE PALACE – Has won one race from 13 starts which came over this course and distance and Andrea Atzeni is back in the saddle today. That makes her of real interest, although she doesn’t look to have much in hand at the weights. Stall 1 is a nice draw and the market should guide best.
DARING GUEST – Has been in fairly good form for this yard since the start of the year, recording three victories including over course and distance. This is a tougher assignment off a 3lb higher mark against three-year-olds only and he’s worth opposing on the back of that.
OTOMO – Slowly sliding down the weights again having failed to follow up a Brighton success back in May. He steps back up in trip today which should be fine, although there appear to be stronger rivals in this so he’s best watched.
FAREEQ – Races in first-time cheekpieces today following some below par runs on his last three starts for this stable. A 3lb lower mark makes life easier and market support would make him of interest racing off a career low mark, making him impossible to rule out.
IFTITAH – Ran a disappointing race here last time out following a success at Wolverhampton back in August. He’s been left on a mark of 68 and Harry Bentley is booked to ride which is positive, but that lastest effort leaves a lot to be desired.
EXIT EUROPE – Has been off the track for nearly two years and he returns to racing off a 4lb lower mark today. He’s switched yards to Sir Mark Prescott’s which is obviously interesting and he was relatively progressive for his former yard, so he’s worth a market check as a course and distance winner.
BALGAIR – Showed clear improvement on his first start for this stable having switched yards over the summer. He’s been raised 3lbs for that placed effort last time out and the booking of Jamie Spencer catches the eye for this yard. One of interest.
