7.15pm Chelmsford Tips & Betting Preview 05/10/2017

7.15pm Chelmsford tips for Thursday’s Class 4 contest raced over 1m for three-year-olds and above. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: BALESTRA could take all the beating here from stall 4. He has a handy three-year-old allowance and this drop in grade could see him bounce right back to form having raced against better opposition last time out. Chetan should make a bold bid for the four-timer, whilst Tamayef could also go well off a 6lb higher mark.

1 BALESTRA – Nicely bred Bated Breath colt who struggled in a much better race than this last time out. He has his sights lowered here and his three-year-old allowance leaves him with a great advantage over his rivals. Stall 4 is fine and Jim Crowley is back on board. Big chance.

2 CARNIVAL KING – Goes in search of his first win since last August. He’s 7lbs below his last winning mark and he has run with credit lately, so there are reasons to expect a bounce back to form with Silvestre De Sousa taking over in the saddle.

3 TOGA TIGER – Doesn’t appear to have a great deal in hand at the weights following some comfortable defeats recently. He has run well on each start this season, but he doesn’t have much in hand and it could be the same story tonight.

4 TAMAYEF – Arrives here on the back of a success over a mile in Class 5 company last time out. He’s been raised 6lbs for that success which looks fair and James Doyle keeps the partnership intact today. Stall 3 is fine and he should run a big race.

5 BADENSCOTH – Ran a fine race on the turf at Sandown last time out to finish second of 14 behind an improving sort. He still looks high enough in the weights on the All-Weather and stall 10 will make life more difficult today.

6 DREAM OF SUMMER – 2lbs above his last winning mark which came at Kempton a year ago. He should improve for his first run for this yard at Kempton early last month. Harry Bentley is an eye-catching booking and the market should guide best.

7 BUCKLAND BEAU – Has failed to win since completing a hat-trick back in February 2016, although he’s 3lbs below his last winning mark. Oisin Murphy is a positive booking, however stall 13 is another poor draw and he may need things to fall perfectly.

8 KINGSLEY KLARION – Makes his second start for John Butler having finished last of 12, beaten 10 1/2 lengths on stable debut. He was only dropped a pound for that run, but he’s still 7lbs below his last winning mark, albeit that came back in January 2016.

9 CASINA DI NOTTE – Arrives here 4lbs higher in the weights following a success at Yarmouth in a Class 5 event last time out. He only won by a head that day and the step up in grade may just find him out, although his three-year-old allowance will help.

10 MUSICAL TERMS – Broke his maiden at Ripon following a gelding operation and the booking of Ryan Moore is obviously eye-catching. He will relish this trip again on the All-Weather and a mark of 77 looks fair on handicap debut. Respected.

11 CHETAN – Goes in search of a four-timer today following some comfortable wins recently. The form of his last win has since been franked so a 7lb rise in the weights may not be enough to stunt his progression. Respected for the Charlie Wallis yard.

12 WIGAN WARRIOR – Makes just his third start on the All-Weather and he needs to improve dramatically on what he’s shown on his last two starts. The ground may have gone against him on both occasions, but dramatic improvement is required here.

13 FOIE GRAS – Looks thoroughly up against it today on these terms following comfortable defeats in weaker races than this. He’s a pound higher than his last win which came in a Class 6 handicap over course and distance and others make more appeal.
