Our race preview takes a look at a competitive bumper in which several horses renew rivalries with each-other. Our betting tips single out a horse who showed a lot of promise on debut and can go one better today with a more positive ride.
IN SUMMARY: A trappy little bumper where a lot of horses have a decent chance. Ravaloe and Oscar Rose both made good starts in their first bumpers and both have obvious claims renewing their rivalry. However, ALAMEDA’s bumper effort was an eye-catcher, after being outpaced at half way and then staying on in taking style late in the day. She may well need a longer trip to show her best but if given a more positive ride she will take all the beating.
ALAMEDA – 4th in a bumper at Uttoxeter (16f, Good) in early June and that effort was certainly eye catching. Tom O’Brien had her sat in midfield and after having to shunt her along at halfway, she stayed on in taking style towards the finish. Her pedigree suggests she’ll need further to be shown in best light, however, if she is given a more positive ride by Jake Greenall she will be a huge threat at bigger odds.
CLASSI MASSINI – Improved on her first bumper effort when 5th at Uttoxeter latest (16f, Good). That was a respectable effort but she was beaten by Alameda that day and she will most likely improve beyond her. Isn’t without chance but may need further too show her true running.
EN JOULE – Finished 4th on bumper debut when 8l behind a few of these (Ravaloe and Oscar Rose) at Worcester (16f, Good to Soft). Now has a platform to build on for Neil Mulholland but there isn’t an obvious reason why she would reverse the form with the two aforementioned horses.
VULGANS WATCH – Bought for 22,000GBP after winning an Irish point to point in March. Makes her rules debut today and most likely best watched for now.
MERE DETAIL – Won an Irish point in May but under rules was disappointing when 5th of 6 in a bumper at this track (16.5f, Soft). Needs to step up on that effort but probably best watched as that effort really wasn’t up to scratch.
MILEVA ROLLER – Good pedigree and has joined a yard which has a decent strike-rate in bumpers (17%). Will need to be of a good standard to compete for win purposes but that isn’t discounted, needs considering.
MILLIE VANILLI – Tailed off in a bumper at Newton Abbot latest (17f, Good to Firm) after needing reminders at halfway and tailed off shortly after. That effort simply not good enough and even with improvement its doubtful she will be on the premises.
MISS FEISTYPANTS – Hasn’t been completely without promise and has shown ability in her bumpers. However she has had one more attempt than most of her rivals and they showed much more promise in that one run alone, couldn’t recommend.
OSCAR ROSE – Beaten very narrowly (less than a length) on bumper debut at Worcester (16f, Good to Soft). That was a good effort and only beaten a head by Ravaloe who she goes back to war with today. Has to respected on that effort but might struggle to get ahead of her enemy Ravaloe.
RAVALOE – Beaten a head on bumper debut at Worcester (16f, Good to Soft) and had Oscar Rose a head behind her. Out of useful hurdler/chaser and that debut effort will almost certainly be improved upon. Will most likely keep Oscar Rose behind again today.
TWOFORTHEPRICE – 100/1 when tailing off at Uttoxeter on bumper debut (16f, Good) and not much good can be taken out of the performance. Discounted.
