IN SUMMARY: This is all about REPORT TO BASE who showed progressive form in four runs over hurdles, including a second in Listed company behind the useful Coo Star Sivola. As a point-to-point winner he’ll be a much better horse over fences and, with Evan Williams in red-hot form, he should be very tough to beat off a mark that is very lenient. Dubai Angel is a model of consistency and hasn’t finished outside the top two in any of his eight rules starts, so he rates as the main danger.
REPORT TO BASE – Won a point-to-point before joining Evan Williams where he only ran four times over timber, finishing fourth in a Listed race at Cheltenham in January. He should make a far better chaser and, with his current mark far from harsh, he is going to be a tough nut to crack.
DUBAI ANGEL – Highly consistent sort for Malcolm Jefferson who hasn’t finished outside the top two in any of his eight rules runs. He won at Newcastle in March and now makes his chasing debut off a fair mark. Has to be greatly respected.
CRIEVEHILL – Ran well in his first few hurdling runs, but his form started to tail off once pitched into the tougher company, well beaten in a Handicap at Ayr when last seen in April. His current mark isn’t overly harsh, however others do make far more appeal.
TOWN PARKS – Progressive last season for Kerry Lee, finishing second to a useful sort at Ludlow in April when last seen. He was always going to make a better chaser and as he remains unexposed he should play a part here. The drop back in trip isn’t helpful, though.
ELUSIVE THEATRE – Won on her chasing debut at Cartmel by a wide margin, falling from the lead at Hexham in June. Her current mark isn’t harsh, yet she does need to improve against some interesting types. Place contender if given a soft lead.
DERINTHOHER YANK – Front-runner who won on his latest start at Bangor in game fashion, making his second chasing start. His first chasing run is best ignored as he came up against a very useful one, but more is needed off this mark. Likely to fall short here.
JOEUR BRESILIEN – Didn’t hang around over hurdles, hitting the frame in all three of his British hurdling starts. He wasn’t beaten far behind two smart horses on that latest start and, considering he’ll make a better chaser, he’s one to watch here as he goes well fresh.
YORGONNAHEARMEROAR – One win from six hurdling starts, though his two starts that followed his sole victory were underwhelming. He was last on his latest start at Towcester in April and he has plenty to prove now.
BEAU BAY – Ultra consistent for Dr Richard Newland, but he doesn’t win very often, beaten at shorter odds on many an occasion. He was 15/8 favourite when going down by a neck at Hexham when last seen and off the same mark he looks vulnerable in a tough race.
SWANTYKAY – Has been poor on three runs since joining Barry Murtagh from Ireland, well beaten at Hexham in September in a poor display. Impossible to make a case for him here.
