4.30pm Windsor Tips & Betting Preview 16/10/2017

A large field for this sprint worth £4,690. Read on for expert analysis and betting tips.

IN SUMMARY: ABIENTO won well over course and distance recently and should go well again if getting to the lead this time, Paddy Power stayed on gamely to get up last time and may be the biggest danger.

1 BAHAMIAN DOLLAR – Won back in July but struggled in his four starts since including last time when coming off a break, he is back down to the mark that he won off earlier in the season however and is feasibly treated if regaining his form.

2 WASEEM FARIS – Hasn’t raced over this distance for over a year and is much better known for racing over the minimum trip but the extra furlong is not beyond him. Was quite disappointing after being hit with a four pound rise in the weights last time though and others are preferred.

3 BUXTED DREAM – Failed to complete the hat-trick last time at Kempton but wasn’t too far away and a repeat should see him in the thick of things again, Luca Cumani’s horses are in solid form at the moment and a big run would be no surprise.

4 PADDY POWER – Ran on strongly to prevail when a well backed favourite last time on very testing ground, his best form of late has been over a furlong shorter with cut in the ground but it isn’t these conditions won’t inconvenience him and he should go well again.

5 BERNARDO O’REILLY – Was given quite a lofty mark of 83 after romping to victory in a maiden and that mark has seemed slightly beyond him in his three starts since, would need to take a step forward to get involved here.

6 CAPPANANTY CON – Has never won off a mark this high and has been below par of late, his course and distance second from June is encouraging but he was never won on this surface and would need to take a step forward to win this.

7 BUCCANEER’S VAULT – Won nicely at Doncaster just over a month ago and it is always dangerous to rule out Paul Midgley’s sprinters, a four pound rise seems a fair assessment of that performance and he should go well.

8 BALLYMORE CASTLE – Has dropped to a mark in the 70s for the first time in his career after two poor efforts earlier in the season, comes off a break of just over three months here and would be dangerous if putting it all together on the day.

9 ANFAASS – Ran a lovely race when second two starts ago but his four starts either side of that were nothing to write home about, difficult to know which version of him will turn up and he is a risky proposition.

10 FIELD OF VISION – Attempted to come from a long way back last time and couldn’t manage to get there but his second over course and distance on his previous start was promising and it is not out of the question that he could be winning this.

11 JERSEY BREEZE – Recorded a quick double in June but has struggled to win since then and was last of seven on her last start, if recapturing some of his early season form she is on a feasible mark but comes with risks attached.

12 PASTFACT  – Has won four of his last six starts and is up eighteen pounds since the first of those, was only given a three pound rise since his last start and may well still be improving so can’t be ruled out and should go well again.

13 ABIENTO – Won well from the front over this course and distance two starts ago but couldn’t repeat the feat when held up in the field last time out, is on a workable mark if he gets the run of the race and not one to discount lightly.

14 COASTAL CYCLONE – Hasn’t won since December and is now a pound lower than that success but hasn’t been in particularly good form and although the ability is there to win off his current mark he will need a revival.

15 MALCOLM PUG – Bolted up in a seller two starts ago but a mark of 67 looked well beyond him when making his stable debut last time out, he will start an outsider here and it’d be a shock if he got seriously involved here.

16 CAESAR’S COMET – Has yet to win in his career but wasn’t beaten all that far last time when staying on and the extra furlong looked like it would suit, slowly falling the weights and may be one of the likelier outsiders.
