4.20pm Huntingdon Tips & Betting Preview 17/10/2017

A novices’ chase for a prize of £6,498 which has attracted some nice looking prospects. Read on for expert analysis and betting tips.

IN SUMMARYDINGO DOLLAR did well over hurdles last season and can take this on his way to better things over fences. The consistent Soupy Soups may provide the most opposition, along with Meldrum Lad.

1 SOUPY SOUPS – Won twice over hurdles last season, including a 17 length romp on his final start. He won a point-to-point so should handle the obstacles and is quickly sent into this discipline which is a positive sign; should go well.

2 DINGO DOLLAR – Progressed into a very nice sort over hurdles last year and connections clearly feel he will be better over a fence as he comes here after just five hurdle starts. Alan King is in flying form and this could be another winner for the hottest jumps trainer around at the moment.

3 ABBREVIATE – Ran a moderate race on his debut over fences and is likely to improve significantly for that experience. Rated 129 over hurdles so will have to carry a hefty enough weight, but could be a danger to all if putting his best foot forward.

4 MELDRUM LAD – Really turned a corner when joining the Seamus Durack yard and racked up a hat-trick over fences having previously been winless after ten starts over the larger obstacles. Couldn’t manage to complete the four-timer last time and will need to improve again off a break to take this.

5 BEAU DU BRIZAIS – Has steadily risen in the weights over hurdles since a win in December due to his consistent nature and is now sent chasing off a mark of 122. That is 6lbs higher than his last winning mark, but if taking to fences he should run his race.

6 WICKED WILLY – A well related horse who was extremely consistent over hurdles having won or been placed in his last nine starts. Hopefully he will be better over fences and would be a danger to these if so.

7 NIGHTLINE – Has won just one of his 14 starts under rules and that was over hurdles. Has yet to win in four goes over fences and, although he has an experience edge on these, he is likely to find one or two too good once again.
