4.15pm Ffos Las Tips & Betting Preview 10/04/2016

IN SUMMARY: Pobbles Bay has done well since switched to handicaps but his latest rise in the weights demands further progress and this can go to HANSUPFORDETROIT (7/1), who often contests stronger races than this and ran better than his 15l defeat might suggest when fourth in a warm Pertemps qualifier at Chepstow in February. He’d made more appeal over 3m but remains on a workable mark. Driftwood Haze won easily over C&D on his handicap debut last month but spoiled his chance by racing too freely under a penalty last time and is another 9lb higher now.

1 Count Guido Deiro – Reverts to chasing after pulling up in Midlands National last month; gamely made all in good-quality event in this sphere at Newbury (3m, heavy) two starts ago but now 6lb higher, and the reduced emphasis on stamina here is not in his favour.

2 Pobbles Bay – Improved form when narrow winner here (2m4f, heavy) in December, his second handicap, and took another step forward when close second at Warwick (3m2f, heavy) in January; another 8lb higher this time but remains lightly raced.

3 Rock Of Leon – Built upon encouraging seasonal debut when scoring at Lingfield (2m3f, soft) in November but been pulled up twice on heavy ground since then; conditions won’t be as testing here but he has stamina for today’s trip to prove and needs to get back on track.

4 Driftwood Haze – Came good over hurdles with easy C&D win on handicap debut last month; disappointed under 7lb penalty a few days later (raced too freely) and full 16lb rise has now taken effect, but he remains one to be interested in.

5 Hansupfordetroit – Would probably be better suited by a stiffer test of stamina than this but ran very well when fourth in a competitive Pertemps qualifier at Chepstow (2m7f, soft) in February and remains on a workable mark; might be the answer.

6 Suit Yourself – Readily won in novice company at Carlisle (2m1f, heavy) in December but hasn’t made any further progress and tended to hang under pressure when fifth on last month’s handicap debut at Sandown (2m5f, heavy); not yet fully exposed but needs to find something extra.

7 Little Boy Boru – Made quite encouraging seasonal debut when fourth at Sandown (2m4f, soft) in November but hasn’t been firing on all cylinders since then; edging down the weights and this is easier than some of his recent assignments, but he needs to race with more zest.

8 Bishop Wulston – Has rediscovered some form on last couple of outings and gave decent account when second to Driftwood Haze over C&D last month; competes from 7lb out of the weights this time, though; cheekpieces the headgear of choice today.

myracing Forecast Prices: 3/1 Pobbles Bay, 4/1 Hansupfordetroit, 5/1 Suit Yourself, 6/1 Driftwood Haze, 7/1 Count Guido Deiro, 8/1 Little Boy Boru, 10/1 Rock Of Leon, 12/1 Bishop Wulston
