3.45pm Plumpton Tips & Betting Preview 14/03/2016

IN SUMMARY: Talk Of The South has caught the eye when making good late headway over much shorter trips on his last two starts in novice company and is interesting on today’s handicap debut but preference is for BELLS OF AILSWORTH (4/1), who posted a sound effort when second at Taunton recently and remains lightly raced. Reblis is a bit of a character and will probably be off the bridle at a fairly early stage, but he stays well and is also a contender if in the right mood.

1 Bells Of Ailsworth – Well beaten when dropped to 2m3f for handicap debut in January but fared much better when runner-up at Taunton (3m, soft) this month, where a last-flight blunder didn’t aid his cause; 3lb higher here but open to further progress.

2 Saucysioux – Displayed significant improvement to cause 33-1 surprise here (2m4f, heavy) in January, her second start over hurdles, but the value of that form is open to question and she was beaten out of sight at Fontwell last month; upped in trip for today’s handicap debut.

3 Leath Acra Mor – Seemed badly to have lost his way when pulled up three consecutive times in 2015 but rediscovered some form when placed twice towards the ends of last year; in the mix if returning from 79-day break in similar mood; cheekpieces the headgear of choice today.

4 Reblis – Quirky veteran who usually makes his jockey work very hard and is better known as a chaser; doesn’t always warm to the task but ran well in defeat over C&D (heavy) in January and no surprise if he’s on the premises again today.

5 Talk Of The South – Winning Irish pointer who has made good late headway on the last two of his four starts over hurdles (2m/2m3f); probably needs to improve to defy opening handicap mark but today’s step up in trip looks the right move and market support will bring him into the equation.

6 Onwiththeparty – Shaped as though his turn might be nearing when runner-up in first-time cheekpieces at Taunton (3m, heavy) in December but hasn’t quite been in same form on either start this year and didn’t look wildly enthusiastic at Huntingdon last month; now sports blinkers.

7 Morestead Screamer – 0-9 over hurdles after returning from break with poor performance at Wincanton last month; sliding handicap mark makes her difficult to rule out but she probably wants better ground and others have more pressing claims.

8 Aviador – Went very close off today’s mark over C&D (heavy) in February last year and ran well for a long way when third in big field at Towcester (2m3f, soft) last month; claims on that evidence but his losing run stretches back to 2011 and he’s not one for maximum faith.

9 Flugzeug – Ended 2015 with two subdued performances but was suited by the strong pace when coming from behind to land big-field contest at Kempton (3m, soft) in January; 7lb rise puts him on new career-high mark but all three of his previous wins were gained here.

myracing Forecast Prices: 3/1 Bells Of Ailsworth, 5/1 Flugzeug, 11/2 Talk Of The South, 6/1 Reblis, 7/1 Aviador, Leath Acra Mor, 8/1 Onwiththeparty, 16/1 Saucysioux, 20/1 Morestead Screamer
