3.40pm Windsor tips for Monday’s Class 6 contest raced over 5f for three year-olds and older. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.
IN SUMMARY: This is a weak contest and the vote goes to FLOWING CLARETS. John Bridger’s runner was well-supported last time out but she bumped into a useful sort that day and she can gain compensation here. Mercers should go well now tried in blinkers off a fair mark whilst Captain Ryan also enters calculations with Georgia Cox on board.
1 SWENDAB – 9yo makes his 117th career start today. He was narrowly denied off a lower All-Weather mark at Kempton last month and he remains fairly treated off 62 on the turf. He is entitled to go well with Ben Robinson claiming a useful 5lbs off his back.
2 FLOWING CLARETS – Well-supported last time out and she finished second of 10, beaten 4 lengths by a well-handicapped sort. A mark of 60 remains fair and she should go well for the John Bridger stable in this weak event.
3 CAPTAIN RYAN – Left on a mark of 60 following a neck defeat at Bath last time out in Soft ground. He should go well in similar conditions today and he’s placed off higher so he should give his running. Georgia Cox claims a handy 3lbs off his back. Respected.
4 AWESOME ALLAN – Posted his best effort for a long time when second of 15 in a Nottingham handicap last time out. That was a solid effort off a mark of 60 and he looks well-treated on the back of that run. He’s going to be racing off a higher mark in the future and commands respect as C&D winner.
5 STAFFA – 6lbs above her last winning mark and she’s been well-held lately on the All-Weather. She switches to the turf today and she’s yet to win on the surface in 7 attempts so she’s best watched on the back of that with better handicapped rivals in opposition.
6 NUZHA – Makes her first start for Tony Newcombe today following a good effort at Bath earlier in the month. She races off a 2lb lower mark today and drops in grade so there are reasons to expect a good showing. Will need things to fall perfectly though.
7 MERCERS – Sole success came in a Lingfield maiden earlier in the season and she’s failed to build on that. She was narrowly denied in a Class 6 handicap at Brighton in early September and she races off the same mark today with blinkers for the first time. Interesting.
8 JOHN JOINER – Has produced some solid form of late, finishing no more than 1 1/4 away from the winner on his last four starts. More is needed today but this is a weaker grade and a 2lb lower mark could provide him with a chance of success. Josephine Gordon is booked to ride.
9 NARALSAIF – Lightly-raced 3yo filly making her third handicap start today. She appears well-treated having finished third off a pound higher in a better race than this at Doncaster earlier in the year and Paul Hanagan is a positive booking. The Soft ground is a concern though.
10 FIVOS – Another lightly-raced sort but he has very little form to his name in handicaps and it’s no surprise to see him race off a 4lb lower mark today. George Wood is a positive booking but it’s hard to see where the improvement is coming from. Opposed.
11 SPECIAL CODE – Sole success from 18 starts came in a Class 6 Seller and he’s opposed today. He’s finished last on both starts for Paddy Butler and he’s shown little to suggest that improvement is on its way. Danny Brock gets back in the saddle.
12 DOLLYWAGGON PIKE – John Jenkins’ filly makes her handicap debut today. A mark of 47 looks fair given she has shown very little in three maiden events and she’s started at no shorter than 66/1 on any occasion. Hollie Doyle rides for the first time today and the market will guide best.
13 SILVER PENNY – Produced her best effort last time out since breaking her maiden at just the second attempt last season. She’s not gone on this year but there were signs of life at Kempton last time out and a one pound rise in the weights is fair. Respected.
14 CAPTAIN SCOOBY – Incredible racecourse making his 199th career start today. He’s without a win since December 2016 on the All-Weather and he’s best watched today in a decent enough race for the grade. His last two efforts have been disappointing.
15 TALLY’S SONG – 26-race maiden and she’s impossible to recommend today. She’s been comfortably held in similar races to this of late and a mark of 46 gives her nothing to work with. She’s a pound out of the weights and best watched.
