3.40pm Sedgefield Tips & Betting Preview 02/11/2017

3.40pm Sedgefield tips for Thursday’s Class 4 race. 13 mares are vying to qualify for the Nothern Lights Mares’ Hurdle Final in the sixth race of the day at Sedgefield on Thursday. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: The one they all have to catch is BEYONDTEMPTATION who ran well in defeat two starts ago at Hexham off two pounds higher and had excuses when not staying three miles on her latest start. Her current mark is more than fair and she should be very tough to beat with conditions firmly in her favour under five pound claimer Thomas Dowson. Miss Spent ran well in a Listed race when last seen, but it’s hard not to think she was flattered by that result and the main danger may come from Black Tulip.

1 MISS SPENT – Ran a career best by quite some margin to finish third in a Listed race at Kempton in October, although it’s hard not to feel that she was flattered by that run. Nevertheless, if backing up that effort back in handicaps she isn’t going to be far away.

2 BEYONDTEMPTATION – Front-runner for Jonathan Haynes who is now back on to a very handy mark, running well in defeat off a pound higher two starts ago at this distance. Will relish these better ground conditions and will be very tough to catch here.

3 SOPHIE OLIVIA – Has some good novice form in the book for Martin Todhunter, winning two starts ago before finishing second to a useful sort at Hexham in September. Will be happier back on better ground and shouldn’t be far away off a workable mark on handicap debut.

4 BLACK TULIP – Has hit form the last twice for Henry Daly, winning at Stratford two starts ago before a close second at Aintree in May. Current mark isn’t harsh and she should go well fresh, so she’s a leading each way fancy under Sean Bowen.

5 UNDEFINED BEAUTY – Only two runs so far for the Olly Murphy team since joining from Ireland, winning a conditionals’ handicap at Southwell on his latest start. She escapes a penalty for that as it was only seven days ago and a similar performance gives her an each way chance.

6 MY BETTY – Irish Raider for Peter Croke who was only fifth on her latest start at Fairyhouse, with her hurdling record now standing at 1/17. Another step forward is needed here and although she has her ground, others are readily preferred.

7 MO CHAILIN – Signed off last season solidly out of form, pulled up at Haydock in April after losing her place early on. She’s now well handicapped after a break though and she couldn’t be dismissed with any confidence, however there are far more solid options.

8 WIDE AWAKE – Only three runs over hurdles for Sandy Thompson, finishing fourth at Kelso when last seen after running a race full of promise. She is quitely progressive but that is a tough race and there will be other days.

9 FLORAMOSS – Deadly consistent sort for Gillian Bonas, with her only poor run coming in a handicap where heavy ground is a viable excuse. She has Emma Todd claiming seven but she looks vulnerable here.

10 MINNIE MILAN – Only three wins from 21 hurdling starts and she was only fourth at Cartmel on her latest start, outpaced late on in a 2m 6f Handicap. A drop back to this trip isn’t sure to suit and others are readily preferred.

11 VISAGE BLANC – Hasn’t been seen for nearly a year, only running over hurdles three times and she slowly progressed with each run. Her stamina is a question mark on handicap debut and she shouldn’t be up to taking this.

12 THEATRE ACT – Now only a pound above her last winning mark for Chris Grant, although you’d have wanted to see more on her return at Hexham last month. Better ground is fine and she has the assistance of Brian Hughes, but others are far more interesting.

13 FLEMERINA – Showed plenty to work with on seasonal debut for Sue Smith, finishing fourth and keeping on strongly towards the end. Nathan Moscrop takes over and is claiming five pounds, with these extra furlongs a plus. Has to be considered.
