3.30pm Southwell Tips & Betting Preview 13/12/2016

10 horses’ line-up for this Class 6 Handicap over 7f with £3, 234 on offer for the winner. Read on for our experts’ thoughts and betting tips.

IN SUMMARY: Secret Lightning will do well if rediscovering the attitude he showed when scoring at Wolverhampton three starts ago. He drops back down in trip here and can go close. CUSTARD THE DRAGON will no doubt come on for his run at the same venue 10 days ago and dropping in grade, can get his head in front this time under Joe Fanning who will no doubt ride him positively here. Unnoticed has been performing admirably recently and can get involved if putting his best foot forward.

1 Custard The Dragon – Sole Lingfield AW win to his name but has run well in last three starts at class 6 and 5 level and was only a shoulder down in second on latest start at Wolverhampton 10 days ago. Makes his fibresand debut today and one to watch back down in grade.

2 Trust Me Boy – Has won over CD three times the last coming in a class 6 in February when making all. Only fifth of 12 in a handicap at Yarmouth (Good/Soft) 56 days ago. Faces a few front-runners today and big hike in the weights up 10lb. Hard to fancy on these terms.

3 Unnoticed – Losing streak stretches back seventeen runs to 2014 when sole career win came at Wolverhampton in a class 6 maiden. Mark has fallen considerably recently and last two runs ok. More to do here for win purposes.

4 Cascading Stars – Unenviable strike-rate of one win from 30 runs on turf. That came two years ago and decent second of 13 in a class 6 handicap at Kempton 13 days ago. Has a lot to find on best form and on this surface with some of these but Adam Kirby up.

5 Spryt – Only two turf wins to his name and badly out of form last few AW runs. Makes his fibresand debut today and on a good mark but hard to fancy for win purposes unless the market speaks in his favour.

6 Best Tamayuz – Has won here three times before from 6f-1m. Decent fourth of 12 in a class 5 handicap here last time out and has decent claimer on board but yard struggling to find winners and best watched in this unless market speaks in his favour.

7 Mrs Biggs – Last win came in 2014 at Thirsk (Good) on his second start in a class 6 maiden but has been disappointing since. Fourth of 14 in a handicap at Newcastle 3 days ago and fibresand debut today. Easy to rule out.

8 Men United – Never won over this trip and sole career win came at Lingfield over 5f on the AW. Decent mark to contend with but poor-strike and best watched for now.

9 Secret Lightning – Won at Wolverhampton over the extended 7f there and struggled upped in trip in two runs since. Makes his fibresand debut here and can get involved on best form for a yard that does well here.

10 Fearless Poppy – Still a maiden after eight starts and form in that time has been pretty dismal. 6lb out of the handicap here and will surely struggle on fibresand debut.
