3.15pm Plumpton Tips & Betting Preview 14/03/2016

IN SUMMARY: Agincourt Reef has obvious claims against today’s moderate opposition, having recently gained his breakthrough win over fences. However, it could be worth chancing SPORTSREPORT (8/1 E/W), who needs to better the form of his two runs in late 2015 but ran a blinder when second in this race last year and might have been primed for a bid to go one better today.

1 Agincourt Reef – Has worked his way back to form since switched to fences this season and comes here after scoring in first-time visor at Taunton (2m2f, soft) 11 days ago; not entirely straightforward but subsequent 5lb rise looks manageable in this easier race.

2 Sportsreport – Well below best form when returning from break for two starts towards the end of 2015 but ran a big race when second in this contest last year, looking sure to win until tiring in the closing stages; good chance if able to replicate that performance.

3 Marky Bob – Free-going front-runner who rallied gamely to prevail at Fakenham (2m, good to soft) in November; today’s 2lb higher mark may not be beyond him but the soft ground is probably not ideal, and he refused to race when reappearing after a break last month.

4 Bobbits Way – First of two heavy-ground wins in early 2015 was gained over C&D, and he improved upon a disappointing seasonal reappearance when respectable third back here last month; recent 3lb drop in the weights not quite enough to tempt, though.

5 Goring Two – Unseated rider at final fence when well clear here (2m3f, soft) in December but quickly gained compensation with C&D success the following month; both runs since then have been dreadful, though, and a big leap of faith is required to back him at present.
